Suicidal; no. Dangerous; yes.
Working in Intensive Care, I get to see plenty of 'unlucky' motorcyclists. I am unsure of how true this quote is, but in ITU this is said more often than not 'The chances of having a life threatening accident riding a motobike in the UK is at least once in a rider's lifetime.'
Still doesn't put me off wanting a Ducati though - hopefully sometime in the future!

Dangerous ? Hell yeah...suicidal ? Not really, all things considered.
And when you talk about at what speed an impact can maime/kill you, it can be absolutely anything, depends how you land, what part of the body hits what object. I have come off once at about 25mph, no issues as I had gone into a slide, I jumped straight up and picked up the bike (and relevant bits) so I could be forgiven for thinking "25mph is ok to crash at" but when you look at that awful news from yesterday with that young girl and the rugby ball, it just goes to show speed of impact can become irrelevant.

I’ve tried this at approx 45 - 50mph
not recommended (big headache) and thank god for **** helmets a well spent £500.Although it didn’t kill me, it did nearly do it to the car driver. Once I jumped up and informed the driver of my annoyance to him driving into rear of my bike on approach to a roundabout....
A kfc bargain bucket later (at the adjacent kfc) and i was ready for a 50mile journey home on a funny shaped bike lol.
Needless to say I’m thankful to my gear and now never think twice at the prices, just the safety ratings. Good gear is priceless

Suicide is intentionally taking your own life.
Biking is intentionally staying alive.
Surely a self fulfilling prophecy? A life threatening accident is quite likely to end the bikers life.
Life threatening doesn't mean it'll kill you, it may well end your riding life though depending if you have a life changing injury as a result.
Or maybe you'll decide its too dangerous for you after your life threatening crash and give up for that reason.
and i bet 99% of these accidents are down to typical Mr.Magoo car drivers

I'd rather be on the bike than in the car anyday (ok not in the rain lol)
I'd say it's reasonably dangerous but just need to watch out for those cage drivers.
I had a very bad bike accident i was pillion, my friend died, i was lucky enough to make it. I am guessing that was my life threatening accident and not hoping for another!!

No, it isn't. No one sets out intentionally to do themselves in.
It is inherently more dangerous than other forms of transport though.

Depends...
in built up areas the majority of accidents are right of way violations, and generally the other party is at fault.
In rural areas the majority of accidents are single vehicle, usually on bends, we have a habit of throwing ourselves in hedges.

Echo whats said here it Dangerous and nothing more, plenty of idiots in cars and on bikes, and in my case in 40 ton arctics!
I basically got rear ended by a royal mail arctic lorry last feb stationary accident stop start at a round about. I tell you this the amount of energy that went through the bike threw me/it into the middle of the round about and wrote the bike off, I walked away and hung the bike gear up for good, the excuse of the driver oh I didn't realise you were there even though the numpty had followed me for a mile upto the round about!! I was riding for only 4 months on my trusty 125... and although it's the most alive I ever felt, you know those perfect rides , if you get hit by something that big at speed your pizza end of.
Kudos to all Bikers, and I always look out for ya and check my mirrors , biking and the community is the best I've experienced.
