I'm after some advice and thought the best place to post would be in the motors section.

Im on a track day next Monday and have a contourHD GPS camera to record my footage. I want to edit the videos when I'm back and include the speedometer overlay etc.

Can anyone give me some advice on how I do this?

Cheers

Matt

If you have an Android phone or (I assume) an iPhone then there are already several apps that will record from the camera and overlay various data while recording.

I'm at blyton on sunday and would be very interested also. not that i'll get to use the camera, the javeling track day peeps seem really anti-recording :(

The free one we used for the rally car is www.racerender.com - We eventually upgraded to the Ultimate version for 1080p stuff.

It'll take the GPS .CSV file from the Contour and overlay it over the video. You can choose quite a few displays G-Force, Speed, Times & Map etc but not much "Car" displays like temps, pressures rev counter etc. As a plus it also does quite a few Video editing bits like Pic in Pic too!

One thing with the Contour which isn't great is that the GPS is 2hz so the data will only update twice a second which isn't an issue on a push bike but when driving at 100mph it looks terrible. The best compromise is a 10hz bluetooth GPS receiver (about £40) which is what we use (although you can get 20hz for serious trackdays at £500-1000+!)

Our Rally car vid (1.4 Skoda so no MacRae style antics!)

Seek out Maxx who posts in the Motorsport forum once in a blue moon and send him a message. He is very good with this sort of stuff, I'm sure Malc will be able to help you.
