I didn't realise Golfs were so popular. Seems that new car sales are in the doldrums compared to last year.

So this is total made under one name?

It's meaningless if so. Because consecutive models can be called the same thing, or renamed.

lol?

Its quite clearly the number of each model that were registered in February 2011 and February 2012. Therefore consecutive models are irrelevent!

Gah, it's late and I completely mis interpreted. Lol eggface.

Not one Japanese motor on there. i wonder how the civic etc is selling. actually it would be nice to see a uk sales overlay to find out how buying trends are skewed by the European countries.

Those declines are even worse than they look since the Feb 11 and Feb 11 to date numbers are artificially low because people brought forward purchases to avoid VAT rise.

Feb registration numbers arent a good guide to performance overall. The month is ignored to a certain extent by many major manufacturers as they gear up for March and the new registrations.

However the point remains: new cars sales in UK and Europe are in a very definite slump right now. And it's not good. :(

The UK changes plate on March 1st, but these figures are Europe wide, and very few (if any?) countries in Europe have dated plates, and even if so do they change over on March 1st as well.

I find the Golf a bit dull to be honest, but obviously it's popular! I think new car purchases are absolutely made with the heart in Europe and the Golf/VW has this great reputation going back some years. More so in mainland Europe, UK is a bit different a perception.

Overall though, the market in Europe is terrible at the moment due to the happenings in Greece and such. There's no confidence anywhere.
