We have just had our first child and the in-laws have been staying with us for a few weeks to help out and then to travel around the UK using us as a base.

Anyway it came up last night that both my wife & her mum believe that they can heal themselves and anyone else through something they called "Reiki".

I was flabbergasted. Apparently while my wife was in labour they even had a relative (another woman) back home doing this for her from 8000 miles away.

What should I do?

Bit late to do anything now isn't it. Other than to ensure you act appropriately - in this case you will have people on your side etc. Might be worth saying in front of the midwife or health visitor (depending which one you are now under) something like "we had help from a woman 8000km away didn't we dear" etc and then watch them keep a closer eye on things for you.

How did you manage to have a baby with somebody you know Nothing about ?

What exactly is the problem?

Whoaaaaah, hold on a bit.
I know we can all have little secrets but how the hell has that been kept from you all this time unless it was a quick bunk up and a shotgun wedding?

Oh your sorted buddy. No more need to pay for expensive doctors or the like anymore. Live well and spend the extra dosh wisely*.

*I may be telling you a fib here.

where are your in laws from?

As mentioned above, just make sure your child has access to a proper doctor, make sure they get their jabs etc.

How did you manage to get married without finding out your wife was mental?

Seems like a pretty big thing to miss before having a baby/marrying someone.

Surely the situation has arisen at some point where one of you required medical aid of some kind or even been ill with the flu and it has still not been mentioned?

Are the inlaws/your wife american?
