Shocking EDL video

Does anyone else think that bringing it to public light is just making it worse? How many people knew about this **** before he was arrested?
9/10 these people wouldn't be such bigots if they didn't know about this, imo it makes the tension worse.

I had never considered this before, an inspired point of view.

I had never considered this before, an inspired point of view.

It was all over and everyone knew what he put around the general area before he had his collar felt, I know a couple of people who know him. Due to it being public knowledge and so many people knowing who he was having worked with him or whatever it was not going to stay quiet. I think he was arrested as much for his own well-being as for what he said.

"A British Muslim is to stand trial after calling British soldiers "killers" on Facebook."

Sorry but....WHAT???!"?!? Since when is stating something factual like this (or stating it even if it weren't factual) a crime?!?

...and why do so many on this forum hold the opinion that making a statement like that is fine...until the soldier is dead...at which point it becomes 'defiling of the dead'. Whether the soldiers are dead or alive, they're still killers. The fact they've died doesn't change that fact.

The man did absolutely nothing wrong in my opinion, nor do I think it's desrespectful in the slightest.

Agree 100%

The EDL are idiots and thats obvious. However they probably have the same views as most people, they just take them to the extreme and end up looking like a bunch of hooligan muppets and thugs.

What he said is wrong though, you can argue that yes they are kiilers because they have killed someone, but thats like saying you can call someone a "black ****" because they are black and a ****.

I thought these were the people who were burning the poppies on remembrance day.
I was wrong, I found what he wrote on the Internet, and he implies that ISAF have gone round raping and murdering innocent civilians. (apart from the incident this month with the American) they seem unfounded. However I can't see any cause for him to be arrested for what he said.
As a solider it makes me angry that a UK citizen could say something like that about dead soilders, but I don't think it would class a racist.

Lock the EDL, BNP and Extremist muslim groups up in a room and let them FIGHT. Whilst the ordinary people sit and watch a group of Cocks making a fool of themselves.

Best post ever. Get anybody who hates anybody else because of skin colour/religion/sex etc. Put them on an island ala Battle Royale and let them all kill each other and when there is only one left standing - kill that twod too.

That leaves the 95% of people of all walks of life who don't give a toss about silly little things to live our lives out in peace.

MDL, BNP, EDL and UAF all as bad as each other. Morons selfishly pursuing their own ideals and beliefs who try to force their own viewpoints onto others.

This.

"Jail those who insult our troops"?

REALLY?

I find that more offensive than half the fundamentalist Muslim propaganda to be honest.

Troops are not some sort of mythical god-like figures and we should have every right to criticize in a modern country. Sigh.

If only life was simple. I have freinds who are Christian, Muslim, Sikh. I'm athiest. Big deal what religion you belong to. I respect you

but thats like saying you can call someone a "black ****" because they are black and a ****.

It's not at all the same. Making a comment about someone being black and then a derogatory after it, is making a negative comment about an entire race of people for something they cannot control and is an unsubstantiated view.

However, casting all soldiers as killers, in either meaning of the word is entirely different. You can state they are killers, simply because they have killed, and that you are of the opinion that their killing was unjust; or you can state that they are killers, implying they are infact murderers and that you entirely disagree with what are, in your opinion, despicable actions. Either of these meanings still only attach themselves to people who have chosen to fight a war and do have the ability to choose otherwise, neither are you insulting a race of people with unsubstantiated opinion.

Same, i have friends who are all the above religions you mentioned and not one of them is mental in anyway however there are plenty of nutjobs in the world from all backgrounds.

I just wish equally they would all sod off and leave me alone.

But what about the members of the forces who do not fight, are they killers?

people who have chosen to fight a war and do have the ability to choose otherwise,

most soilders don't choose to fight a war. We are told to by the elected government and so we have to. If we refuse, we are charged with desertion.

By that reasoning calling someone a muslim **** would be acceptable too? After all religion is a choice.

To be honest your whole line of reasoning is flawed as what he posted on facebook was a little more than "all soldiers are killers" (itself incorrect) and something much more derogatory. It is also possible that it was not that which caused him to be arrested but something else. We do not have the full details so there is a lot of speculation.

Finally I would also say that what he posted on Facebook is in fact wrong, but not something that he should be arrested for.
