Dog attacks police officers

Yeah that would be fine, but the part about him in A+E because he was bit "accidentally" yeah...

Playing with a dog is fine, im sure all family dogs play.

but play fight, seems iffy.

hmm mines got a bit over excited and would sometimes bite my hand by mistake instead of the rope lmfao(should have got a bigger one),but it would realise it got my hand instantly and never cause more than a little scratch never drew any blood and would actualy look at me in this way that let me know it was sorry after it even though it didnt hurt me,i miss that dog :(

I assumed with all the thugs the UK has that use dogs as weapons that police (of all people) would be "trained" to deal with these situations, but i assumed wrongly.

No, i would like fire arms officers to do what they have been trained to do, not to waste time shooting dogs.

What kind of training would this be? How would you recommend they handle the situation?

Firearms officers are training to deal with threats that are too dangerous for regular police to deal with. This was a very appropriate use of their time.

Exactly, mine do it as well i don't think any dog can help themselfs once in play mode, but if brought up correctly they know there place and once they do somthing wrong, they correct themselfs.

in that case your dog accidentally got a bit of the pink bit and let go...no harm

I'd really like to see more done about Dangerous Dogs, it's becoming a real problem as people are increasingly breeding and buying them to use as weapons and for intimidation.

Where I live in Islington, you will see numerous people with them, it ranges from people who clearly look like drug dealers, down to kids from rough backgrounds and people who clearly like them cause they think it makes them 'hard'.

I'm quite close to the Animal Hospital which was featured on the BBC show of the same name. The Head Vet recently retired after 30 years and said that the numbers of dogs brought in due to fighting, or dogs being attacked by dangerous dogs, along with animals that have been poorly treated is currently like nothing he has ever seen.

The problem is, it seems such a difficult thing to Police. There's been lots of talk of microchipping, but that's not going to stop the people who have illegal dogs. How the Police even control them or stop and check people is another matter.

Like i said i assumed they would have been trained since the UK "gangsters" are using dogs as tools and weapons, and would have thought the police would know this. but nope, was wrong.

There are many ways to deal with a biting dog, go look for yourself.

+1.

Owner is at fault hopefully he will be punished accordingly and get a sentance rather than a slap on the wrist. Poor dog probably did not know any better but think about if that was you in that situation, a massive dog clamped onto your arm not letting go, what would you do? and what would you do if you were there watching it happen and you had a gun.

Shooting a lethal animal seemed an excellent way to deal with it as far as I'm concerned.

We are talking about police training, you seem to think the police handled it wrong. What should they have done?

Whatever they want, just like they did. it's not like we have laws anymore.

Police are scared No Swearing pleasefrom all these little gangs in and around london and it's surrounding counties.

so who cares right?

You are obviously right and all dogs should be shot on sight. and there should never be any differences from dangerous, non-life threatening to 60+ kg's of dog hanging off someones neck.

just shoot, don't think.

trolololol

Surely a massive pitbull attacking 5 officers isn't grounds for it being shot? Nice troll there...

So, surely this is being treated as attempted murder or something as serious? In my eyes the police deserve a commendation.

Not trolling, they deserve nothing imo.

There is a BIG difference in attacking and killing.

if it was attempting to kill the guy, then of course the sooner they could get it off the better, but no it was locked onto his arm and they didn't have a clue how to get it off so it would have been there untill it relaxed or ran out of energy.

so in my eyes no need for it to be shot. i guess some people just don't care and others do?

Let's leave it at that.

I have no words.

All butch terrier type dogs and large stereotypical german dogs ought to be made very expensive to own. The owner pays a yearly license fee of £650 and it must attend abidance classes once a year to get a license renewal. Anyone caught owning such a dog without a license will get a £2500 fine or 6months in prison.

Ordinary civilians will be encouraged to grass the chavs up and receive a £25 bonus if said chav gets convicted.

You get 10/10 for trolling.

So how is this not seen as attempting to kill?

How do you expect to get it off? I would expect someone coming out with a kitchen knife and stabbing it to death before armed police arrived.
