Stupidity of the Console War: XBOX 360 vs PS3 vs Wii

It's not really 360 vs ps3 vs wii really.
It's more 360 vs ps3 whilst the wii taunts and laughs at them atop a huge pile of cash.

The "console wars" only exists between kids/teenagers who don't have enough money to buy multiple systems leading them to have to justify their choice of console to their friends/family/strangers on the internet.

As an employed adult, I have never considered it a war, more like "Look at all these cool games/platforms I can play!"

I hate Blunty and this is 4 years old.

lol

He's aware it's old. I think it's a bit of a take **** at how things were back then.

I think everyone on this forum partook in a fair bit of mindless fanboyism.

And fanboyism exists everywhere.

I spoke to a colleague at work yesterday, He doesnt buy ATI cards, He doesnt buy Intel Processors. When i asked why? his reasons were that of a fanboy, and he purchases things regardless of ability and more due to some sort of delusional company loyalty.

No doubt though, when the next consoles hit, we'll see the usually back and forths on this forum about which console has the superior graphics, processing abilities. And we'll scream and cry at others for not agreeing.

Hopefully when the fog\smoke clears though we'll get back to realising all that BS doesnt matter and we'll play some games.

FYI...360 sucks.

I couldn't have put it any better.

Why would I pick a small selection of great exclusives to be able to play, when I can have all of them? Owning the lot is the way to go.

Just have to look at Bhavvv's embarassing fanboyism in graphics cards the last few days to show this is true :)

I think the whole fanboy dillusion was much more feasable a couple of generations back. For the most part consoles back then were full of exclusives so what you had available to play varied greatly. These days almost all games are multi-platform, all you're really arguing over is what the box looks like that you have to power up to play Call of Duty :P. Even going back one generation we had the idea of exclusivity starting to fade outside of first party development. Resident Evil 4 was announced as a Gamecube exclusive. Months after release they changed their mind, and now that game is on at least 4-5 consoles. Mass Effect went multiplatform from 2 onwards.

It's always tempting to argue back at fanboys for the sake of it though :P. I have a 360, i think it's great, end of. When people tell me I got it wrong and should have got a PS3 i cant help but point out the outrageous pricetag. Then when inevitably they point out that it's worth it for the bluray player, i also can't help but say that my 360 and my blu-ray drive cost less than the PS3 :P. Not that I actually care, It's just to wind them up really. I have no regrets about choosing to buy a 360.

I don't care about the console war much these days, but it's far too tempting to participate in the fanboy arguments for nostalgias sake :P. You can blame it on people like me if you want :)
