Hi all,

Was reading another post here and saw this:

It does power the usb though, if I set the jumper to power while not on.

Was just wondering if I could have power going to my USB ports while the computer is turned off. Sounds like a cool feature that the original motherboard I was going to get had, but then I got the ASUS alternative (P8 Z68-V-LX) instead

Does / should my motherboard have this jumper somewhere?

Hope you can help :D

If it's got the feature, it'll be listed either in the manual under the jumper settings, or in the bios somewhere (probably under USB settings).

Normally if it's a physical jumper it'll be listed in the section of the motherboard that describes all the headers and motherboard connections/parts.

I looked in the manual for that board, there is a phone/battery charging feature available in the BIOS for the two USB3.0 ports located at the rear.

Thanks for both of your replies :)

Will check my manual in the morning and try to find out how to enable this feature then (unless it is enabled by default and I haven't realised). I haven't seen the option in the BIOS but it must be there somewhere

Will get back to you in the morning :D

EDIT: Thanks, didn't see that picture when I replied (Y)

Thanks all

I found the setting, enabled it, but still nothing. Hmmm

I tried plugging my phone into the rear USB 3.0 port but it didn't charge it

I have some college work to do, so I'm going to do that then later I will check and make sure the drivers are installed for the USB 3.0 (which they should be as the ports DO work) and I'll try it with an iPod or something and see what happens :)

I believe most new Gigabyte boards have this feature, I can certainly charge my iDevices off usb when the PC is off.

I think it's called ON/OFF Charge

What are the case USB's connected to on the motherboard I had to try several different USB controllers on my board to get it to work properly

Right,

I have enabled the setting in the BIOS and I have made sure the Asmedia USB 3.0 drivers are installed (these came with mobo disk) and I have even installed the Ai Charger+ part of AI Suite just in case

I tried it with an iPod and my blackberry 9900 but nothing, doesn't charge them at all when the computer is off. When it is on, if I plug my phone into the USB 3.0 port it does not charge properly, it says 'charging at a reduced rate', but when the computer is off it does not even do this

Any ideas?

Jay I'm not sure about your question about the case USB's, I thought this feature only worked with the USB 3.0 ports on the back of the mobo??

Thanks :D

Try turning on wake / power on mouse or something similiar. My P8P67 wouldnt charge usb stuff when off, changed that after a bit of googling and it worked.

There should be a program thats on the disk that you have to install (AI i think ) ( you do on the sabertooth 990 anyway) hope that helps :)

Thanks for both of your replies but Puppetmaster was right :D

I enabled power on by PS/2 mouse ... or something like that, and now it works :D Really odd that you need to do that though lol

I plugged an external HDD in and can hear it spinning and my phone recognises it now (but still doesn't charge lol, must just be my odd phone lol) but at least it works now :D Will try it with an iPod soon too but I'm sure it will work

And it is also working on the USB 2.0 ports on the front of the case, not just the 3.0's on the back.

Couple of question though

1) The light on my card reader (as it is plugged into a USB header) is constantly on now, even when my PC is off. Is that a problem? Will it do it any harm?

2) Will it do my logitech mouse / keyboard receiver any harm by having power going to it 24/7?

Thanks for all your help :D
