Sky Anytime+ without Sky Broadband

I used Solwise PL500AV, but I chose a pair of 500mbps one, as it makes better use of my infinity connection, & they were recommended for HDTV & Media Streaming!

But, I should have got a pair of 1000mbps homeplugs as these give even better performance.

Did try some 85mbps ones I had in the spares boxes & they struggled, broken picture, stuttering.

Someone on here will have more experience of homeplugs than me.

Sky's official wireless connector is made by Netgear as well so is likely to be similar.

The only difference is that the Sky supplied one is configurable from the sky box - a nice feature, I thought.

I enabled mine the other night, and by the time I'd clicked confirm and picked up the remote, it was already working.

What a carry on iv had.

Activated Online, recieved email saying there is a problem and i need to ring customer support. Only have mobiles and i aint ringing a 0844 number so though screw it ill use live chat. Spoke to one person who passed me onto someone else, then i spend near on 30 minutes passing all my details over to verify my account so they could activate Anytime+, they asked who my BB was with, how long left on contract etc. Then they said thankyou for your conversation i have captured it please contact customer services and they will activate it for free.. WTF was i just doing for the last 30 minutes...

their online support is pretty bad. I had to ring them in the end, the order kept failing. mine was down to me previously having anytime+ when I had sky bb and then it being removed when I cancelled my sky bb. the call took no more than 10minutes and they were really helpful.

This was part of my experience with their live chat lol;

Sulaiman: To receive Sky Anytime+ you need a Sky+HD box with Sky+ subscription and either Sky Broadband Unlimited or Sky Broadband Everyday Lite.
Sulaiman: Do you have all this Services?
You: Sulaiman, Anytime+ has now been changed to to be available with any broadband provider.
Sulaiman: Yes, that's correct.
Sulaiman: You can use Anytime+ with any Broadband.
You: in your previous message, you said I need Sky Broadband
Sulaiman: I am sorry for that, it was my mistake.

Luckily got it enabled in the end

Your not kidding about the live chat been terrible. Now after telling them i dont want to ring due to me only having mobile phones, hes got me to fill in a registration form to sign up for sky saying they will contact me instead, then just tell them your problem lmao

haha will that not be the sales department, who don't deal with anytime+ so they will give you a number to ring :p good CS from the online support.

I know i am a bit late in posting this but i was told about 8 weeks ago that you could use Sky Anytime plus soon with any Broadband Supplier by the Sky installation man who fitted my Sky at the new house

Yeah it started working the other day, just had to plug my ethernet cable into the back of my box and complete the order on the sky website (free).

I thought I'd tack this post onto this thread - not going to far OT.
I've just received my Netgear Ethernet/Wireless bridge. Two options for powering it, either a mains plug or it can get power over USB.
Does anyone know if SkyHD boxes happen to have powered USB ports on the back?
I'm not worried about the USB port actually doing anything - it would just mean one less power plug to worry about.

AFAIK some do provide power, some are totally disabled. Only way to know is try it and see :)
