HTC - Are all Deisres the same? Z?

Hi all,

I want to get a HTC desire and just realised there is a 'z' version which has a keyboard so could be handy to have over the normal Desire.

My question is, are these pretty much the same unit and can run the same roms etc or are they seperate? I ask as the support for the Desire is massive but I am not so sure of the Z...

i have had all of them and the original desire was the best
but no each rom will only work for that model so it wont work on a "z" if its a desire model rom
best rom i ever had was the oxygen rom as it removed all htc stuff and was as close to stock as you could get it and the speed was great!

There are a good few about from various generations. Don't just plump for 'a desire' because they are quite different. The original is pretty good, but rather long in the tooth now.

Which one would you suggest then reflux for someone with a £150 budget and does not mind second-hand.

No, they are different phones and will not run the same ROMS.

I have the Desire HD, it's the best

Get the Desire HD. No need for physical keyboards in this day and age

I tend to agree, but some people love 'em. The virtual keys on the DHD should be big enough that they're easy peasy to manage though, IMO.

I just got rid of a z , was a good phone but some apps didnt work but would work on other desires, im actually suprised how well a onscreen kb works with a bigger screen,im using a htc sensation xe now and i love it

If you want a smaller model than the DHD then the Desire S is the one to get. My mate had the Z and I found it rather heavy. I had the DHD and found it a bit too big for my usage, so swapped it for an S - for me its the perfect size and no slouch.

Beware the DHD battery life, it's amazingly short in the first week or two growing to a day on typical usage.
