a lot of monitors have 1080p res screens if you was not to be plugging in your xbox/ps3, and your not botherd by movies.

What is the ideal res for pc gaming?

imo bigger the better , but thats not such thing as ideal, just the one that you feel most confortable using. I just moved from 1680x1050 to 1920x1080p and looks a lot more sharper for games specially on 120hz monitor.

Obviously the higher the better. I'm not really a big fan of multi-monitor setups, so I opted for a 30" 2560x1600 display - it's a major improvement over the 24" monitor I had before. But obviously the higher the resolution the more beefy the hardware you need in order to keep up, so 1920x1200 is probably the best compromise at the moment.

Multi-monitor was nice for about a month then I kept asking why did i pay for 2 extra screens if i dont look at them? (Unless doing work etc when the more the merrier.) I think a large single screen or 2 screens one for gaming the other for well whatever?

I actually agree, despite what I said earlier :p

That being said I've not tried 3 screens but I like having one big/main/focus screen and then a secondary for little things :)

Honestly when I got my screens I was like "OMG OMG OMG I CAN PLAY EVERYTHING IN EYEFINITY" 5 months later "I'll set this to 1920x1080 as this bloody fisheye makes me want to kill myself"

If you go down the route of multi-monitor then my advice is get 3 decent monitors or 3 TV's 32" + as that is badass.

TV's are cool

I think it depends on the game.

My dad plays strategy games on his 30" dell and loves it. I've played BF3 on it and find it a bit too big, probably because I'm sat too close. Moving to a 24" my score skyrocketed.

Everyones different. If you position a 30" far enough away and have the beef to power it then why not but I'm going to stick with 24" for now.

+1

I downgraded from a dell 30 to a 27 16:9 because i found it to big on games like bf3. I had the space on my desk to put the monitor further away but then it didnt fill right being so far away
