I know it's possible to relocate a build to another point on the map.

Does this apply to just what's on the surface, or can what's underground be done as well?

it all depends on size and dept.
ut there is currently no option to move a build.
it was all done for moving from one map to another.

I will check with the admins to see if this is something we might offer to
do.

Build moves can be requested by donators for 1 sponge :D

See here:

Thanks Maxi, I have seen that.

But how much of my build can I move, can the underground part of my build (spawner) be moved as well?

What do you need to know in respect of where I want to move to - X-Y co-ordinates?

Or would I be better off using (buying) a 2 way teleporter and making a new build and keeping my old one in its current place?

There isn't really a size limit, but it would be under subject to admin review.

We would preferable want to do this when you are online as it makes the process far easier! But if the build move is too big, or is too much of a pain to copy you could always go down the teleporter route.

Cool, the live map works really well on my iphone too!

Quick question, is there a way to stop a nether gate jumping to an already created one in the nether? Mine jumps to andy and nimble's gate, and I'd like one of my own!

Build as far away as you possibly can, every step in the nether is 8 steps in the real world. If you are too close it just locks to the portal there.

I know. It's not like I've built it right next to them, I'm several hundred blocks away, and a lot deeper too!

Is there any way to calculate how far away it needs to be to generate a new portal? If there's no other way and I must move mine, I'd prefer not to have to go for a trial and error aproach using obsidian.

If it's too far I just won't bother. There's no point having a gate to make it easier to get to my build area if it's still a long walk.

Divide the normal world x and z coordinates by 8 to get the nether world coordinates. Then create a portal manually at the corresponding location.

Cheers! Now there's a quick and easy way to get to my cavern. And the spiderdome is almost complete....

Sorry for the delay in reply Maxi, too much good weather

I'm working on the Cartos which are taking a very long time with the new file format! Plus the map size has doubled so it may take me a while to get them done.

Map size only increases by about 10% with the addition of the biome data in the new Anvil file format. If you are seeing a doubling of the map size then it is most likely due to the old format map files not being removed (MCR), these are not removed by default as part of the conversion process. The new file extension is MCA, just delete the MCR files in the region folder of each dimension.

Cartos aren't looking good... The nether took nearly 2 hours to complete using 450 chunks in which I've uploaded it and tried to use Zoom.it which just fails with an "unexpected error".

The normal Map is 1560 chunks! I'll have to do some research into how to make these cartos properly. If anyone knows how to, let me know *cough* Sylvet *cough*. :D

See above for removing the MCR files. The render of the main world took me about 6 minutes and resulted in a 130mb png file which zoomit had no issues with. You should also be using the latest version of mcmap which is 2.3b. Here are the new coords for the expanded map size:

Main world - From: -259 -200, To: 242, 301.
Nether - From: -33 -25, To: 31 38.
The End - unchanged.

Hopefully you will be able to continue with the cartographs while FT continues to work on getting the live map fully operational.

Also if you hadn't already noticed there is a new recommended build of bukkit out for 1.2.4.

Been a hell of a long time since I played, really wanna get stuck back in. Just downloaded mc.exe and it's version 1.2.4... to save me trawling through the thread, has anyone got the files for me to roll back to the current server version? Also, am I still on the whitelist and whatnot?

Noice one ;)

I wouldn't worry too much about rolling back to an older version. The official bukkit release is 1.2.4 now, so I expect the server will be updated within a week or so.

I'll see if I can get something on the test server tomorrow (which if is non-problematic could be rolled out quickly to live) but I'm currently doing pretty much the same thing in work, only for 100k users, so it's a bit busy/stressful :)

Hi all, ticket system doesn't seem to be working.

I want to request to "buy" a 2 way teleporter.

The Tickets plugin is knackered with the later Bukkit versions. I hope to get an alternative up and running at some point.

I'll post a link to your request in the admin forum.
