T-Mobile increasing contract prices (by just below RPI, making it 'legal')

Same dirty crap Orange pulled, just a heads up.
Increase is about 3.8%, which is nothing to my tiny contract but its gonna hurt some people much more.

I don't understand why people think that increasing something once a year in line with inflation is "dirty crap"?
Because increasing the price in response to inflation is "dirty crap" and is purely done to increase profits. If the price has increased because of increased costs to provide the service then fair enough, but have they?

Surely everything increases at the same time though, that's what inflation is? For instance, the parts they buy to maintain their cell towers should increase by inflation, their employee's wages should rise by inflation, etc?

That isn't how inflation works, inflation is an average measure of the price change of a selected few items in a "shopping basket". Using inflation as a basis for changing the price of something rather than an actual change in cost results in inflation being selffullfiling.

In other terms inflation is the dog wagging the tail ultimately, using it to justify price increases is the tail wagging the dog.

Pretty much this.

Inflationary increases are annoying and simply lead to more inflation leading to more inflationary increases..

This is probably where my confusion stems from; I thought that this vicious cycle was the reason for inflation, not that there's something else to stimulate it.

I think it's pretty poor when you have a signed contract with an agreed value. Obviously there is small print, but pretty naff.

Typical T-mobile bunch of petty gits. The letter is so smug about the fact you cant cancel and even tells you where to complain seems they are expecting it and so will most likely direct all your calls to there super helpful trained robots in a call center abroad.

This... Got my letter and it's really infuriating the way it's worded.

Got my letter too putting my contract price up £1-12 from May. A little unfortunate really as that will be my last month of contract. Nowt like peeing off a customer just before contract end? Wonder if he'll renew with them? I'm going monthly contract or payg as not signing up for 2 years any more. Rather annoying if you've just taken out a contract and they stuff the price up?

Only 3 months left with mine, I might call them to complain and be righfully furious and then buy out my contract.

Will have to wait till tomorrow though..

In addition to this there's the fact that most people's wages aren't keeping up with inflation, if they're rising at all.
