I randomly found myself listening to some songs from old THPS soundtracks, and remembered this!
Unless you have been under a rock for the last few months you will have heard about the new Tony Hawks game coming out this year: Tony Hawks Pro Skater HD.
Coming to Playstation 3 (PSN) and Xbox 360 (XBLA) in July 2012!
It is a HD 'remake' of elements of the first 2 THPS games with a collection of levels from those games playable by a number of old characters and new.
So far confirmed Skaters are:
Tony Hawk
Nyjah Huston
Eric Koston
Chris Cole
Andrew Reynolds
Rodney Mullen
Riley Hawk
Confirmed levels are:
Warehouse
Mall
Phoenix
Hangar
School 2
Marseilles
Venice Beach
Launch vid:
Tony talking about the game with a bit of gameplay:
It doesn't look like its going to blow the world away graphically, but it is a return to the 'old school' style of gameplay. A good thing, because I think everyone will agree that THPS games went rapidly downhill after they started messing with the controls and gameplay.
Personally, I can't wait for this! Being on PSN and XBLA it shouldn't be to expensive. I hope they keep the tradition of the original games of having some epic hidden unlockable areas and mental characters and cheats. Doing eleventy billion flips with Spiderman while in slow motion will live with me forever!
Lets hope they don't push the release date back to much.
