Currently with ADSL 24 on their Home 30 broadband package for £19-20 a month atm. Download speed of around 800kb/s

Limited to 30GB of Bandwidth per month (which I went over last night and had to pay £6.50 for a top up!)

Is the BT service a better option? Currently looking at the Unlimited usage package which is £25 a month but comes with Three months free and £20 cashback via quidco which makes it around £19 a month.

BT = 18 month contract, up to 8mb download speed. £19 a month.

ADSL 24 = Month by Month contract, up to 8mb download speed and £19 a month.

So it's all down to who provides the better service?

Any helpful comments welcome :D

Can't you get Llu in your telephone exchange? Www.samknows.com will tell you, I am on sky LLU and I can if I wish download as much as I want and get very good speeds "distance to the telephone dictates speeds" and I am paying 12.50 per month.

Kenneth

PS there is no traffic shaping with sky atm.

I am sure BT have always had traffic shaping in effect.

You get what you pay for. The better service will come from ADSL24 with a monthly contract, no traffic shaping and UK support. If you're looking for budget broadband, go with BT.

This :)

I tried ADSL24 many moons ago simply because of the monthly contract (coming from a nightmare with Orange at the time). I found all aspects of the service to be great and had no hesitation switching to the LLU service when it came out. I can still remember a fella called James ringing me back after hours to sort out a problem when I changed over, turned out to be my router and he stayed until he talked me through setting up another (the Orange one lol). Anytime I rang for help (not often) it was answered straight away.

From what I'm told from my awesome source.. BT own the line anyway, so any broadband comes down their line.

So surely they'll be the best provider for the service here? (I was also told they keep a bit of traffic spare for their customers)

BT are the more expensive option. But the offer of three months for free and the £50 topcashback makes them temporarely cheaper.

TaKeN why not try ADSL24 it's only a month by month contract and if it's cheaper (in long run) and doing everything you want then problem solved, if not leave and signup with BT. Oh forgot to mention the same time I was with ADSL24 my parents only down the road were with BT, I always had a faster connection.

It doesn't work like that. All ISPs have equal access to the bandwidth at your exchange. Some will give you priority if you take a business package.

Thread bump.

Getting really fed up with being Limited to 30GB a month between 8am-12pm. Dad seems to use youtube and forums a lot more now.

So we're going over our limit!

With it being a Farm, we can apply for a BT Business account and get the Unlimited broadband package.

Just worried it's going to be a very poor service. Can anyone quash these worries? Ta!

Switch to a business package if they still do them, that changes the hours to 8am-8pm meaning that you are unlimited during the key 'evening session'.

I'm on a 15GB business product (45GB also available) and it is fine as long as I only download at weekends and after 8pm weekdays.
