1920x1200 or 2560x1440

for 2560 you need some serious GPU grunt, which can cost some dollars.

so i would say it depends on the rest of your spec.

I got a 7950 and I5 2500k and am doing just fine (besides the Witcher II) running pretty much anything at decent framerates @ 2560x1440. Your setup has mine beat it seems so that should be fine.

Don't think you'll see anyone prefer a lower resolution over a higher one besides a few 16:10 purists. I'm all for 16:10 as well, and my 2560x1440 Hazro HZ27WD is my first 16:9 monitor, but I got no complaints, the vertical resolution matters to me.. which is a good 240 pixels higher!

I game at 2560x1600 and it really does make an incredible difference. Skyrim looks spectacular and it's also very beneficial in strategy games, like Tropico 4 and Civilization V. And most games will run fine. However, some games are very demanding, like Alan Wake and Crysis 2 - I'm considering adding a second GTX680 to keep up. And it's not ideal having your CPU at stock speed.

At 1920x1200 you'll get great performance in all games; at 2560x1440 you'll have some games that aren't optimal.

Depends how serious you take yourself, I think you're at a disadvantage if you go any higher than this.

I'm not a serious gamer, I just want to get the best out of my graphics card, I have a 1080p tv that i use at moment, 120hz monitors dont interest me i've seen both working side by side and I didnt really see any difference because of that I wouldnt see 120hz as a upgrade to what I have while a better res would be.

I do play all sorts of games FPS,RTS, Sports, mmo, all kinds..

1440p is great. I game on a 5850 (clocked to the nuts) and most games run maxed or at most a drop in AA (BF3 is an exception in that I had to tweak shadows and some others), so I imagine your 680 would be just fine. It's a great res for everything else, not just gaming.

I had to make this decision not long ago. It was either a 1400p monitor or a 3D 1080p monitor.

I went with the 3D as it was cheaper, added something new to my gaming, and didnt tax my system as much as the extra resolution would have done.

of topic but does anyone know of any 1440p 3D monitors ??
