A Toshiba Satellite P750-15l laptop for £549

It has a GT 540M in it.
Surely this is a great price for a laptop that could play modern games like Skyrim for a decent price? It feels too good to be true...

Processor Intel Core i3-2350M (2.3GHz, 1333MHz, 3MB cache memory)
RAM 8GB
- DDR3
Graphics card NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 540M

PS. I apologise if this is against the rules, or a repost, or offensive to anyone.

skyrim at low/med seems decent for a laptop at this price! a full desktop build by yourself of this price is only 560ti standard no?

Comparatively to other laptops I've seen, such as the MSI offerings on this site, it just seems that this is the best I've seen for this price range. Does anyone know a better laptop at this range?

I think I have found a better deal.

HP pavilion dv6-6c12ea for £549.99

AMD Radeon HD 6520G + 7670M Dual GPU
8 GB RAM
AMD Quad-Core A6-3430MX Processor

Seems pretty good no? It is better than the 540m, and pretty much equal to 550m from what I can see.

Does anyone know if the processor is rubbish?

There's an Acer 5560G for £504.94 from the jungle with an A8-3500M, 8gb RAM and 6620G+6650M graphics. Much better deal.

The CPU is on the low side, but with the software k10stat, they can be clocked to 2.4ghz+ easily with no problems, even on a lower voltage than stock.

Hi I've been doing my research on it tonight and found and ordered the above laptop after a lot of research. It does seem like Skyrim isn't as good with it but that appears to be the only game on that comparision site that looks unfavourable compared to others. Also don't forget it dosnt take into account how the other specs of the laptop help with rendering the game such as RAM, CPU etc. I'll let you know how it is if your willing to wait. It arrives Tuesday.

notebookcheck shows 6650m as sub30 fps on skyrim on low, while the 7670m can do it at medium. Am I missing something, is it not that simple?

You're forgetting about Dual Graphics. The discrete and the onboard works together. The HP is a 6520G + 7670M, while the Acer is a 6620G + 6650M. According to Notebookcheck the 7670M is based off the 6650M, so working with the 6620G should help bring similiar performance to the 6520G + 7670M when under dual graphics.

Still waiting on delivery despite ordering guaranteed next day from the Forest. Home Delivery Network sent it to the wrong depot... Twice. So I got postage back and 10 pounds credit which is nice. It's now getting delivered to my work when they track it down lol.

Well my laptop came at last with 46 pounds compensation from the river (they told me to wait in for it six different times, think I spoke to every CS rep going). Anyway first impressions are good. I was running civ 5 at max with 4xaa last night and it was really smooth. I'll post more tonight.
