Posted on the big bike thread but I think I might get more responses if i post here.

Anyone recommend a good LED front and rear light to put on my new bike. Will be communting on paths and side streets but I want to be seen.

Also need a coil lock. Anyone got anything decent that wont break the bank?

well after finally getting around to checking the bike over I need to replace the bottom bracket our shell and bearings. There is some play on the ultra torque crank-set that's making a lot of creaking.

How do you guys go about planning a new route?

I've hashed this up in google maps for tomorrow but am unsure of how stupid the ascents are, even the "terrain setting" doesn't give a good feel for the route.

Also haven't looked into whether the Edge can work with a KML file. I know you can upload "routes" to it, but not sure how yet.
Experimentation day today. :D

Do any of you drive the route first, or just get on the bike and go "right then, lets go that way"

EDIT**
Doh! Much easier if I used the Garmin website

Looks good to me. :D

Brackets on the Astrums are prone to failure. Lots of folks get home and find out they have been playing cycling ninja for a while.

And Raleigh don't even realise it's a common issue with the Astrums. It's a bloody bright light though. If anyone is intending to buy it, secure it to the bracket with something like a couple of cable ties. I've put my replacement on my seatpack now but I've not yet come up with a way of securing it so that it doesn't hang down and face 45 degrees towards the ground.

I use bikehike.co.uk, it's pretty accurate with regards to elevations. I can't drive, so I usually just draw a big loop in bikehike and then go and ride it.

No but I've downloaded the .gpx file and will give it a go sometime. See if I can get fit enough to do it for real come September!

Need to increase my distance, I really want to have a crack at the Blayney to Bathurst in three weeks time, the short course is 70km.

Only been riding for a couple of weeks, building up my distance gradually.

21km this morning quite easily, I find I can cruise at about 25kmph riding alone without using too much energy.

I'll probably do a couple of 25km rides during the week and a longer one at the weekend, but then I'm away for a few days so no riding, probably do the legs some good to have a recover.

Here is the route profile, if I can crack the first half of the route, then its a gentle downhill after that so should be easier on the legs if I am busted.

Think its do-able or would I be in for a world of pain?

Also any recommendations for a mini pump to ride with suitable for road tyres, my MTB one won't give enough pressure.

I did that route. :D
O..M..G.. That first hill crippled me (and my riding buddy) but once up ontop of the cotswolds, what an awesome ride / route. I think I had about a total of four cars overtake me for the whole ride. So quiet and picturesque!
Even met an group of Mountain bikers who at first glance had stopped for a rest, only to find the old dude had come off and broken his collar bone. He was in a bit of agony to say the least!! Only one of us had phone signal  so they called his wife. :o
It wasn't supposed to be that good a day today but the sun has been shining the whole time.
Buzzing now (and coughing a lot as my throat appears to dislike the amount of air I was forcing through it today. )

Sunday Cycle South Cheltenham 50km by fuzz944 at Garmin Connect - Details: http://bit.ly/H5C56I
