so far I’ve overclocked it to 4ghz only by changing the multiplier... how far do you think I can safely push it?

idle temps 28c load temps 49c @ 4ghz

I'd push it a lot further. Anything up to about 1.4v and 70c under load is perfectly safe for 24/7 use, for really good chips this can achieve 5Ghz+, otherwise you should be able to get at least 4.6-4.8Ghz quite easily.

A lot depends on your cooling. If you can keep it under 70c under load, keep going.

hmm cooling seems like it could be a problem :/ its never gone above 49c under load atm. know of any accurate cpu temp software?

motherboard software;
system temp 26c
cpu temp - 20c

realtemp
cpu - 28c

im only using a mini case but the cooling seems to be pretty good

The A50 isn't exactly a brilliant cooler, but you still have well over 20-30c to play with. Aim for 4.5GHz and see what sort of voltage is required.

I use HWMonitor for temp/voltage monitoring.

Realtemp/Coretemp/HWMonitor are about the best.

And yeah the A50 isnt the best cooler out there, i'd say you should still be good to around 4.5-4.6Ghz though, just keep an eye on the voltage/temps.

is it worth upgrading my cooler? whats a safe operating load temp?

See how it goes first, you might have a decent chip and not need high voltage for the speeds you want.

Anything sub 80c is fine, although you'll get higher temps stress testing with something like LinX than you will in day to day use.
