Hey guys :)

I've just uploaded a video to our channel of the new ASRock Z77 Extreme4 and thought I would share with you. I know the Z68 Extreme4 Gen3 has been very popular on OcUK forums (and rightly so!). Hope you guys enjoy my video anyways!

I picked one of these up the other day and it's worth mentioning that it's not full ATX width so the right hand side of the board isn't fully supported by the motherboard standoffs (at least not in my Coolermaster 690 II). It could be an issue if you have to press too firmly inserting RAM or the power supply plug.

I haven't had chance to do any performance testing as it's currently got a celeron in it until IB is released. :D Not had any issues with it yet though...

Have a shave Dave, I thought I was watching FRAPS of Furmark!

As much as these reviews are frustrating because you can't give the details that are under NDA they're still helpful, and this one was done about as well as you could have. Camera is nice and clear too.

I was set to buy this one but now not so sure, I have checked Asrock website and it is 1 inch difference between z77 Extreme4 and Extreme6 and Z68 Extreme4 Gen3

"ASRock Z77 Extreme4 Motherboard
(ATX Form Factor: 12.0-in x 8.6-in, 30.5 cm x 21.8 cm)"
"ASRock Z68 Extreme4 Gen3 Motherboard
(ATX Form Factor: 12.0-in x 9.6-in, 30.5 cm x 24.4 cm)"
"ASRock Z77 Extreme6 Motherboard
(ATX Form Factor: 12.0-in x 9.6-in, 30.5 cm x 24.4 cm)"

It's not really a major issue, just something to keep in mind when you're shoving sticks of RAM in. Bit odd though, I've not seen it before.

I picked one up today for £130. I did originally order off an online retailer for just over the £100 mark but there was discrepancy with thier website so the price I paid was for a pro4 and thats what they sent me. Id be very surprised to see these for under £100 in the near future but if they are it will be quite a bargain.
Cheers
Scott

Tons on google shopping at the £100 mark - perhaps it's these shady shops that are just multiple shop fronts for the same shop. I've avoided ordering from them in the past because they look a bit shifty.

Until the proper retailers list them though I guess it could be closer to the £130 mark. Even at that price it seems like a fairly good package.

Yes I suspect your right I just found another retailer which was listing the extreme 4 but the spec sheet read like the pro 4. Well worth watching out for!

I paid £120 for mine which I thought was a good price for all the features (compared to a z68 board) but have noticed it for less now. Looks like they've sold out where I got it from.

If I do bud I look like a 12yo!! ;)

Yeah I'm fairly restricted but on the video overviews even whilst not under NDA I would usuallly only cover these things as the video complements the full review with all the graphs and overclocks being within the article!

I was worried you'd take me seriously. I did have a look at the other stuff you've done and it's all good. Your videos are worth watching, and most of the tech stuff on YouTube is some fanboy droning on... so you're well above that level.

Haha!

Thanks mate, always good to hear feedback like this. Expect more Z77 videos too btw!

Hi, I'm not sure if this question is specific to this board or not (ie if there are standard layouts in terms of spacing on atx boards) but in case it is and some of you have access to a board I'll ask here:

Would installing a large cpu cooler (NH-D14, K2 etc) get in the way of installing a card in the top pci-e x1 slot? I haven't bought a cooler yet so if some of them are too big I'll just look into the dimensions of them more carefully when I do order one...

thanks, and great video OP :)
