How do you see the world nowadays?

Celebrity culture and the mess that makes of things irks me.
David Beckham used to play football at a competitive level, about twenty years ago, he isn't the go to man, to publicise anything British, he should have nothing to do with an under23 tournament for gold medals, let alone be the self prescribed Captain of such a venture.
I see the world of political mess, caught between what is right and what is marketable.
A religious mess of paedophilia versus psychopathic terrorists.
A marketting mess of what isnt the best being badged as the best because its just cooler.

People have more material goods at all levels of society, but people are no happier for it, families are more disjointed, people expect more for less, or even more for nothing.

No one takes responsibility for themselves anymore. Everything is always someone elses fault hence all this "Where there is blame there's a claim" garbage thesedays.

Racist.
What about us who lived through the 60s, 70s, 80s & 90s?

? and that's racist?

Mainly what I was getting at was how the culture has changed, maybe it's better but it was pretty raw in the 80s and 90s, i think it was more real but others may disagree.

getting worse all the time.

too many people, less jobs, less prospects, declining GDP in all western nations, Islamification of Africa etc etc

Well this country UK. There is no discipline what so ever and I believe this is one of the biggest problems. We have a soft touch judicial system where you can get a better standard of living inside than out. Oh and of course you have way more rights inside.

Proper communities are getting rare now, these days you get people moving in and out of neighbourhoods constantly, no-one bothers to visit the neighbours or even acknowledge their existence anymore.

Parents are too afraid to discipline their children in public. When I was a kid, if I acted up when shopping with my mum, I'd get a clip around the ear and I'd quickly shut up. These days, if a child comes into the shop screaming, they will continue screaming for the 5-10 minutes they're in the shop, and carry on screaming on the way out, all the while the kid's parents won't bat an eyelid. It's bizarre.

Popular music is dead, replaced by pretty people dancing around with virtually no clothes on, and using autotune over repetitive background noise. Music TV is now just softcore porn.

Everyone has a mobile phone glued to the side of their heads now, and if it isn't on the side of their head, it's right in front of their face as they squint at the tiny screen trying to read stuff on it.

There's a lot more conspiracy theorists around, and a lot more people generally distrust the media and the government, this is a good thing.

Not forgetting those guys who have a black pixel in their signature that gets me nearly evertime

Everyone seems obsessed with owning material stuff - things that make them happy for a few days ( doesn't have any "real" use - and is obsolete quickly ) - then eventually makes them more stressed out. I give it 15-20 years before we are in serious trouble with regard to sourcing large amounts of rare-earth elements and elements essential for electronics and computers. As China will no doubt hold all the cards ( and most mines ) with regard to supplying us - it should be an interesting time ;)

People don't appreciate what they have. Don't appreciate life, children or ( as in the case of most people under 35) don't appreciate their health in general. Without it - you will be restricted and it is the most important thing you have and can control.

People say they are more "healthy" - or assume they look after their health - yet they are more stressed and less relaxed than a generation ago. They think that by buying a low fat coffee, or a reduced salt microwave dish - they can cure all their metabolic problems.

Families are too busy working to actually engage with their children.... and the children suffer. Years ago - just Daddy worked - now Mum and Dad both work & kids are left with Childminder A or Nursery B. Mummies too tired to sit and show the kids stuff - and Dad is working at home after work.

The majority have no understanding of
basic finance
nutritional stuff
what to do in emergencies, etc
The (main) things to give you a good footing in life and keep you healthy.

People are taking the quick fixes - more meds (even in the UK ) to reduce the symptoms of their conditions - and not actually targetting the cause of their illness.

Everyone is blaming someone else - or commenting on what other people are doing.... rather than taking a step back and taking a look at themselves.

We are killing the planet with our obsession with plastic junk and packaging. As humans - We WILL NOT last another hundred years on this planet if we continue the way we are going..... yet no-one wants to admit it, and even the politicians laugh about the fact that it is us that will kill of thousands off years of civilisation.

Ive become really concious of just how SMALL our planet is - no doubt this is due to airplanes. Get in one of those flying sardine cans and in 15-17hrs youre on the opposite side of the globe. Its SUCH a ROUTINE thing that none of us appreciate it anymore. Instead the stupidness of having your shoe scanned and toothbrush confiscated takes away from the wonder of it all.

Oh and just to make you feel smaller: 3 Earths can fit inside Jupiter's Great Red Spot. Yea...just the *spot*
