Hey folks,

I'm heading to vegas in about 2 weeks, and was wondering what the best option is for using my mobile out there. I've got to try and keep in touch with the real world - and I do mean try, as there is a very good chance I wont bother ;) and I'll need to be checking a few email accounts when I remember. The hotel charges quite a bit for wireless which apparently is just how Vegas does things

I have an iphone on O2 payg, and a Xperia Arc monthly contract on Vodaphone. Anyone know if there is an 'extra' I can add that say, gives me a gig of use out there. Would prefer to take my Arc out there to be honest as its camera and video could come in handy

Thanks

Cheers

Was thinking more about logging onto the interweb though really using my phone to check emails. Could get expensive just doing it using data roaming or whatever its called couldnt it?

Thanks

Yea - I looked into it and decided not to bother.

There is loads of Wifi in Vegas. Heck if you get desperate just go to McDonalds!

Good point. Plus, just looked and the hotel is $14 dollars for 24hr of wireless. Suppose it could be done once or twice

Pretty sure though after being there for a few hours the real world will cease to exist and I shall not care in the slightest about emails and work :)

He suggested the right network really as the only GSM networks out there are AT&T or T-Mobile. The former is the biggest one out there.

A lot of the hotels include wifi/internet in the price or very cheap price suprised its $14 a day for wifi - tho maybe its because its vegas - when I've been in other parts of the US it would be more like $14 a week for internet at the hotels if not inclusive (thats staying in Amerisuites or similiar).

I've not been in the last 2 years or so but mobile coverage was pretty patchy and actually getting working mobile internet connectivity even more so other than right in the cities.

Also is your phone carrier locked?

lol didn't notice it myself - wish forum software would highlight the date or somethong on threads more than x months old :(

McDonalds are brilliant for WiFi in USA, there is one everywhere and they all have WiFi (that I found anyway). Most are even open 24/7, was a life saver when we gt there at 1am and our Villa has changed the lock code without telling us.

Not in Vegas, just been there and the hotel wanted $29.99 a day! All the "open" networks were actually locked somewhere. Just didn't bother in the end. In comparison I've been to New York recently at the hotels had free wifi there and a few open networks around the place.

I got a normal network connection ok via AT&T.

I had no problem finding free wifi in Vegas, like said McDonalds is the easiest to find.

I don't do McDonalds. :p Starbuckers yes but coffee shops aren't that common in Vegas. There are a few in the casinos themselves but they don't have their own WiFi.

There is atleast one Starbucks on the main strip. I went there for the wi-fi and an iced coffee because it was up near 90 out.
