Right my situation is, iv got a sony erricson w995 on a monthly contract that i can cancel any time, paying 20 quid a month, but recently gone over my limits and hit 30 quid for past 4 months.. and iv realised,

for 32 quid a month i can get a iphone 4S on 02 which im on now with unlimited txts but only 500mb internet, will i ever use 500mb data?.

but iv got a problem, my friends selling a iphone 4 not a 4s, for 250 pounds, and then i could go onto giffgaff using it, and pay just a 10er a month with unlimited texts And it has unlimited data.

so the 4S after 24 month is 768 quid, the iphone 4 on giffgaff, 250 for fone 240 after 24 months at a 10er a month.

is the 4S worth the extra money? as i do like my phone i have now for its 8megapixel camera, and the 4S is 8meg, 4 is only 5meg, and iv seen speed tests 4s is bit faster not much tho. so is it worth it?

need some fast replys as im getting one or other in 4 hours.

thanks. :)

I would say go with the 4, get a sim from Tesco for about £10 a month on a month-by-month contract and then see what offers are available when the iPhone 5 comes out.

okay cheers, and if i got the iphone 4 id go onto giffgaff tho, tho they don't do microsims can get a simcard cutter for 3 pounds so it fits iphone 4, for 10er a month that ya pay by topping up 10er a month ya get 250 mins unlimited giffgaff to giffgaff and unlimited txt and internet.

was just a debate to go 4 or 4s and the price difference.

so the 278 pounds more or so for 4s aint worth it over a 4?

thanks

If the iPhone4 is in good condition then I'd go with that. The 4S isn't really worth paying the extra for, plus you're then tied into a 24 month contract, which I have a personal aversion to so may be biased there :)

I'd go with the 4 and a Giffgaff SIM. It's cheaper, you won't miss the extra features of the 4S and you're then a totally free agent and can change phone or contract when you want to, possibly when the 5 arrives.

They do do Micro-SIMs - click the "Order" button on the main page and then the third option down is for "MicroGaff" and you can order a micro-SIM. I currently have one in my iPad.

alright cheers guys. yeah i dnt really want to be tied into a 24 month contract.

but if its not worth the extra money ill buy the 4, its in good condition, bowt 3 month old always had a protector case on it.

so is 250 a good price for it?

and the iphone 5 wouldnt really interest me streight away cause it will be out of my price range for months after it comes out

thanks

That's fair enough really but the key is that you can upgrade when you want to. One nice thing about Apple kit is that it holds its value well - if you paid £250 for the iP4 now (assuming that's the going price for a good one - I don't know tbh), then you'd probably find it'd still be worth close to that when the next model arrives, which means you could upgrade for only another £2-300 if and when you want to.

alright thanks for the replys guys, yeah not sure what iphones are going for but my dad just bought a iphone 3g for 140 and it was like new. so im guessing 250 for a minted 4 is good?

Well Envirophone are offering £230 for one in working order and they'll always offer a fair bit under the general market value so I'd say £250 for a mint one is good.

buy it outright and go on giffgaff with £10 goodybay so you can have unlimited data...

i think this is one of the cheapest way and not get tied down to a long contract

I got a 4S and agree your better off with the 4 for now, certainly at that price.
When my HTC Desire contract is up in September (sold it, Android is poo) I will move my iPhone to Giffgaff for the £10 contract.

I payed £180 for a 16gb 4 off egay last November that was less than a month old (confirmed by apple warranty) but locked on 3. Is £250 really the going rate for these currently?

Sounds like you got a bargain, probably just got lucky and there weren't many others interested in one locked to 3 at the time of that auction.

just as a update, just waiting for my new micro sim to arrive, supprised it aint here today, hopefully its here tomorrow, then going to buy the phone as she isnt sure if the phones locked on 3 or if its unlocked.

I bid on about 8 of them over a weekend period, non of them really went for more than £200 and they were a mix of unlocked and locked. Quite possibly still got lucky though

I would go with the 4 because it really isn't worth spending all that money for, let's face it, minor upgrades that won't make a massive difference to your user experience.
