Noticed some play in the wheel the other day, had a quick look and it seems rather a serious problem I have :(

And here is what the part looks like removed

I really like this wheel have been using it for a few years now so I plan to have a go at fixing this, somehow :D I'm thinking along the lines of re enforcing it in the centre with either a bit of fairly large diameter perspex rod or aluminium. Drill hole through the middle for wires and holes for some longer bolts to go through the whole thing. The other option might be to re make the entire part but then it has to fit perfectly into 2 different bearings and the cog has to slot onto it for force feedback.

Any thoughts or suggestions appreciated :p

I would contact logitech to get them to replace it mate. They probably won't even ask you to send it back and send you a new one or an updated model of it if they don't have them in stock.

It's not been a current model for years afaik, do you think they would do that  I got it off a popular auction site years ago :D It's been fantastic until this. I wouldn't expect them to but I'd be very impressed if they did.

They don't do that anymore because too many idiots were taking advantage of their generous RMA procedure. Now you need proof of purchase and have to send the item back to them.

I'd ring Logitech & ask them if they still have any spares for your model & go from there. It is Always worth ringing Logitech up. ;)

Just found the emails, I only paid £56.01 delivered on 26/02/2007 I thought it was more than that :D certainly cannot complain at all about that it's had a hell of a lot of use. I realise for that amount many ppl might say it's not worth the bother fixing but the trouble is this model is a bit hard to come by these days & it's such a nice bit of kit, the red one was a sort of special edition I believe with real leather momo wheel.

I guess nothing to be lost by trying logitech support - thanks for suggesting I wouldn't have even considered it. Failing that it will likely take me a bit of time to get it fixed and ready to use again so in the mean time I would probably look at getting another wheel, trouble is not sure what I'd like, it would have to have force feedback and have excellent build quality.

Sometimes Logitech give you the option to take a picture of the faulty product, then destroy the product (with strict health and safety guidelines on how to use a hammer), then take another picture of the destroyed product. Then they send you a replacement (or newer product if the previous is out of production).

This is what happened for my G5, although this was a few years ago!

Well I've just got a reply guys :P

Thank you for contacting Logitech's Customer Care.

As I understand you are looking for spare parts for your Momo Wheal. Unfortunately I have to inform you that we do not have any spare parts for this particular device in the cause this model had been discontinued.

Where and when did you buy your Logitech MOMO steering Wheel please?

Maybe is still in warranty.

I am looking forward to hear from you soon.

How would you advise I proceed from here, bearing in mind it was from an auction site 2nd hand back in feb 2007 :D

Tell them you bought it 2nd hand from the bay in feb 2007. Or are you asking for advice on how to scam logitech into replacing your item?

trofeo - this is SO wrong dude, dont abuse the system

cool it  I never said I was going to do anyting, just asking what u guys suggest, u've made it v clear what u don't suggest :D I'm thinking I might send them a pic of the exact part and ask if maybe its used in another model that's not discontinued.

EDIT reading back i see how u came to that conclusion :D I didn't have anything scam related in mind but my bad for making that unclear
