Gtx 580 compatible with the crosshair formula IV?

Im looking to switch to a nvidia card the cheapest way. so is it possible to use a gtx580 to an amd motherboard without any problems?

Yep, heres an Asus ROG page showing some stats, with 3 way sli gtx 480 not gtx 580 but close enough ^^

In no way is that official or supported though, who knows if it'll even work with later drivers etc, etc. It's a SLI hack, since the CH IV isn't SLI supported.

To the OP, the GTX580 will work perfectly with your CH IV, shame it's an AMD CPU like

OP, are you asking if it's compatible with just a single card? I have an Asus 580 DirectCU II on a Crosshair IV Formula, and it runs fine, overclocks highly too.

I don't have plans of running SLI only 1 gtx 580 is enough. That is good to hear that it will run with no problems. is the performance the same though?

Performance is the same assuming there's no CPU bottleneck, your min/max/average won't be the same as a 2500k system for example (Simply because it's an AMD system, AM3 so likely a Phenom II), but you likely wouldn't be able to separate between the two unless you're on a very CPU limited game.
