Playing BFBC2 and getting around 45fps on all settings and resolutions, no improvement.

Recently upgraded my GPU from a 6970 to a 7970 (whenever they were released) used to get 80+ fps on high presets @1080. Since upgrading i've never seen 60 (unless looking at sky)

Personally this is one of the more fun games that i enjoy playing and recording at the same time, but playing with such low fps is agony for my face.

Tried overclocking my CPU to no avail, tried running stock on the GPU to no avail. This is the only game that i've seen a framerate drop since changing GPU.

My stuff you might want to know:

12.3 drivers.
1100t @stock
7970 @1125/1575
990FX mobo
8gb Kingston HyperX 1600Mhz ram.

EDIT: If this is the wrong forum, could you change it for me? Sorry if it is.

Not 100% but maybe your cpu @ stock is holding back the GPU?

I did a comparison with a 2500K on Anandtech to show the difference.

http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/288?vs=203

I feel if you OC your cpu, this will stop your bottleneck.

Tried that, OC'd to 4Ghz and it was still the same.
Even with a less powerful GPU with that same CPU @stock i was still pulling nearly twice the framerate what i am now.

If it was a bottleneck i wouldn't see an increase from my old setup as opposed to a decrease? (correct me if i'm wrong)

EDIT: @1080 res the 2500k is only 1 or 2 FPS quicker. In terms of gaming my 1100t believe it or not isn't *much* of a bottleneck :P

Aren't the 12.4 Beta's much better than the 12.3's as well? Although I'm lost on the AMD drivers since I upgraded from a 6870.

Yep all fair points. I don't know that chip at all tbh and was clutching at straws.

Try what Rusty said, as the newer drivers do bring some great things.

Also, I have read that on AMD cards (I've not read anything about nVidia although that could be luck) if you upgrade your card you should treat it as a new install and uninstall the drivers, remove old card, plug new one in, install drivers.

Otherwise you can get some performance issues. If you've not tried that I would uninstall your 12.3's, reboot, and then install the 12.4 beta's. See if that helps... and keep your CPU overclocked :)

Just done what you said, still the same.
Identical frames.

I've just turned the game on with my old PC using a HD5670. Getting 90fps on low @720. Tried those settings on mine, 60fps.

Would a fresh windows install sort out whatever problems i'm having, would gladly do that just so i can enjoy this game again.

According to AB i'm using only 50% (dipping to 30%) of my GPU whilst using 80% of my CPU thats at both stock and OC'd.

Went on BF3, according to AB i'm using 99% (dipping to 97%) of my GPU and 67% of my CPU.

It sounds like a driver issue. I had a very similar problem with my crossfire 7950. The drivers for 7xxx are just pants. Some games will work brilliantly (as they should) and others worse than the GTX 570 I had before. I managed to improve my problem uninstalling the previous drivers using ATIMan, overclocking my card and tweaking volts, as well as using 12.4 Beta.

I think if that doesn't work you may have to format - I'm considering the same thing myself as a few things still don't work properly for me.
