How's this for a twister!

I don't know if this area is prone to Tornadoes but I'm always surprised by the photos of destroyed homes that look like they are made of nothing more than wood  but I suppose that the risk you'd have to take for cheap housing when the chances of a Tornado actually hitting your house are fairly slim.

My thoughts exactly. the world's largest concentration of mobile homes appears to be in the most active tornado area in the world

Their houses are made of wood, due to the heat etc i think, plus they are very quickly rebuilt and repaired in such events.

This is the main thing, cheap and quick to rebuild, in general america uses a ****load of wood for building houses, far more than we do so its a much bigger tradeskill over there. From what I recall there are plenty of places in the states you can't get decent insurance, Florida + hurricane insurance, tornado alley I assume insurance is as big of a problem.

Humanity, "we were born here so we're from here and we don't want to leave here".

People just shouldn't live in hugely dangerous area's, its daft and we don't have to.

Homeowners, wind, flood and hail insurance on our last house in New Orleans came to $13k a year.

Ignorance is a horrible affliction. If a city has jobs and industry people will live there. If everybody decided to up sticks and move to temperate regions the world would be a very strange place. People live in Slough and Stoke and Luton ffs. I'd rather have the Gulf Coast.

Is this really appropriate behaviour during a tornado cleanup?
