Hey guys,

I was just wondering what is the difference between different brands of the GTX 680, since I see a price difference between them. I know the chip is the same chip from Nvidia, but which one is better like MSI/ASUS/ZOTAC.. ? I'm asking because im thinking about buying gtx 680 and ZOTAC looks pretty good, mainly because of 5yr warranty.

All the brands for reference 680s are almost certainly going to perform equally.

There is a difference in price, probably due to brand appeal but also there is usually a difference in warranty.

The only practical difference you will find between brands is the length/terms of the warranty.

If you're gunna take warranty into consideration, do consider that some cards are more expensive to RMA than others.

For example, I wanted to replace my broken Corsair PSU but it would cost £40ish because I'd need to send it to the Netherlands for a replacement. It would have been cheaper for me to send it to someone who performs replacements within the UK.

Don't forget that the 'best' warranty may not be so good if you need to ship it to the other side of the world to get it replaced. Consider where you'd need to ship it too.

Some brands allow you to remove the cooler and fit your own if you choose to.

I know EVGA allow this, which is probably why they are often recommended here, alongside the warranty length and current pricing. If i had the money for a 680, it'd certainly be the EVGA card.

Why? :p Well i can extend EVGA warranty upto 10yrs "for a small charge" How much are we looking at? :D

40€ (~£33.20) based on EVGA's price for the standard card.

50€ (~£41.51) for the Superclocked version.

The sterling price will vary based on the exchange rate used by EVGA/your payment method.

EVGA are generally known for going above and beyond for their customers, I can say they have certainly helped me and I will be buying an EVGA GTX 680.

EVGA/MSI/Gigabyte are all good shouts. Bear in mind though that the chances of you actually having to use the warranty is tiny so it's not worth paying a huge price premium for.

Hi, i just purchased the 5 year warranty for my GTX680 from EVGA at a cost of £17.30.

I had to RGA a GTX 460 in the past and recieved a GTX560 ti in return, this is why I stick with this brand :) Very helpfull and fast to resolve issues.

I've just seen Zotac are releasing a Factory OC 1.4ghz model... I might be tempted by that! (this isn't like their "we're going to do a 2ghz" one, this is an actual pictured, press released model that is coming soon)

This is hopefully a good sign that reference model owners will hopefully somehow be able to unlock some kind of voltage control.

That is if Zotac have not totally reworked the power elements of the card from a hardware perspective! :o

This would not surprise me at all, as I know temps on my EVGA are low (if I put the fan on full though, it is very noisy).

I would love a BIOS flash to put the card back to manual voltage control. I am happy with how the card performs and temps however I just know it can do more.

The article i read stated specifically it did indeed (somewhat obviously) use extra voltage to achieve the hefty clock! Hopefully user changeable!;)

Good news for future factory o/c'ed 680's!

Remember to achieve this they are not just volting it and using cherry picked gpus. They are using considerably improved components on the board in general....from better memory to no doubt better transistor, resistors and capacitors!
