Not sure if some remember what happened to me earlier in the year

But today I got the full results back of blood tests, ct scan and the like well it came back positive I have the Factor V Leiden gene. However My stomach injects for the large blood clot will be stopped on may 15th and although they said I don't need Aspirin or warafin, I'll probably take the aspirin to be on the safe side.

My stomach on occasion looks bad all black n blue :(

I was also diagnosed with this and one of the reasons I wake up at night thinking I'm having a heart attack, such as last night!

At least you have had a diagnosis to pinpoint what the issue is. Hopefully as Castiel said, you will be able to get on with life without too much hassle once you have got used to it.

Because I'm not requesting medical help? :confused: I'm telling people what I've been diagnosed with. It's not as odd as you may think, a member of the family on my mothers side has both genes Factor V and Protein S.

Both my sisters and brother will need to be tested

Thanks guys!, better that I found it tbh ! If any of you have the gene in the family get yourself tested it may save your life :)

The purposive approach to the no medical threads rule is to stop medical advice being given. As he isn't requesting it, I don't think it's a problem personally. I don't think the idea of the rule is stop someone discussing how an illness affects their life.

Thanks Nitefly... What I'm happy about though is on the 15th I'll no longer have to stab myself every day! :D, I used to think though I was walking for miles and miles with that timebomb in my chest :eek:. Just gotta be careful now but it's not a massive change.
 
Neil have a read, as you likely already have, on clotting process and stuff. It has been a while since i looked into the details of the processes, of which there are several competing pathways.
Aspirin might not be part of the pathway affected by factor V and might not help much.

That's what she said too, but yeh i've read up about it already I'm VERY lucky I don't have both genes though. That'd ruin things :eek:
 
Aspirin tends to affect platelets, over a period of ten days it builds up iirc and makes platelets less sticky.

Been too long for me to recall where factor V fits in, Dr House might recall.
