My dad parked up in birch services on the m62 during the weather this morning (mega snow), they were queuing out of the exit so he stayed parked for about 3hrs (still queuing when he left).
On his way out he noticed a sign saying max stay time 2hrs without paying a tenner over the phone from a company called 'CP Plus' enforced by camera's.

The signs near where he parked were all snowed over he says, and he couldn't get out anyway with the traffic.
Is this anything to worry about? he was driving one of my cars :)

You'll get a notice from the parking company charging you if they used ANPR cameras or something.

Under Section 172 of the Road Traffic Act you are under no legal obligation to tell them who was driving, and any 'contract' they beleive exists is between them and the driver, an individual they have no knowledge of.

That would be one hell of a fast ticket if he had received one!

So they don't issue you one on the spot then?

Sounds more likely that the cameras were covered in snow :p

Anyway, like fox said, ignore any potential ticket.

I think most of the time you can apply some common sence to situations like this and I would imagine your dad was not the only one doing just what he did. I wouldnt worry about it and if you were to get a ticket then I would either politely explain the situation or do as fox says above. If they start being funny then just tell them you will see them in court as it probably wont get that far.

Don't even respond to them, File them under B for Bin, and forget. I got a ticket from the same company when I stayed in a Travelodge at a services with the same parking conditions, and the hotel didn't pass my reg. details onto the parking company, a week or so later I got an invoice for £60, ignored it, a couple of weeks later another another, ignore - didn't hear anything more from them. :)

Bad advice is bad.
