Just Curious really,I was wondering and thought there might be a joint between the one `box` and the next post/joint that i know of.
Cable runs under the farmers fields ,through woods, above ground and just under,on poles, inside hedges etc etc
Now i can see the concrete box/manhole where they rejoined the cables a few years ago and i can see the post whee they are connected again about 1KM away ish.
How much cable is on a big drum i guess i am asking as i might take a walk along the route looking in the hedge to see if i can find one if there is likely to be one in a 1 km length:)

Lol, his next question will be:

"Does anyone know the best way of burning the insulation off of a large quantity of cable?"

:DLOL
No mate i suspect there is a joint somewhere between the 2 places i said,we have **** attn and snr and BT have checked the poles etc that are visible.Cable was laid under hedges, just under farmers fields around 40+ years ago.I am hoping to `discover`a hidden **** joint`that BT don`t know about and say the next time we have issues `have you checked xx joint`:)

Time they laid a new cable if it's that old.
Tell me about it :( only serving at most 60 houses) not `viable` is what i think was said last time i inquired a few years ago and`phones are all working`yeah right tell that to my neighbor 3 doors away who has constant crackles etc and barely 50k dl speed BT`
Who can`t find `anything wrong when tested`

Which going back to my original question of how long the cable could be.As i suspect there is a joint they have lost/forgotten about

:) possible but every one posted on here about everything but the question(well nearly)
Now how do i close this, cant seem to find the close thread button ;)

There's more than 1km on a big drum of cable mate! If it's a low pair cable you can easily get a couple of km on a smallish drum.
:)Thank You
finally someone with an answer.Gives me at least a point to look for a joint. My neighbor was told there were no spare pairs left in the cable ,there are about 60 houses in the village,so accounting for damaged pairs swapped over the years i guess it is a 80 pair cable?
Will be walking the wood/fields this weekend having a look:)
