Also, I assume thats the in game time next to your light level? How do you get thet up, i have light level but not the time?

New Server Rules, Whitelisting Policy, etc

Please see the OP for details on the new rules. There is also a post on the LinkTart site.

This may be controversial but I believe that it is an important thing to do in order to build our playerbase and keep the server running and fun for everyone.

In terms of rules that affect current players there isn't much aside from changes to the terms of banning (admins have more discretion to hand out longer temporary bans...we will be re-examining previous bans if need be).

The big change that I expect some 'discussion' about is that the server can be joined without an OcUK account now - but only with all the requirements laid out in the whitelisting guidelines post. The new policy actually requires that players prove themselves to be mature and able to read the rules rather than just have been around on here for a while.

Makes sense, hopefully we'll get more friends of friends on the server. :) A lot of people don't want to sign up to two forums just to access one thing (I know I wouldn't).

Yeah. That's kind of what I was thinking. We've also had enough bad apples from the forums here that I don't think that the OcUK-only policy was really working for us (obviously we've had tons of cool people too... I just mean that there will always be some idiots that we have to ban so we may as well not cut ourselves off from potentially cool new people).
 
Would it be a good idea (don't know if it's possible though) to let anyone join, however to build you must be 'whitelisted' ?

It would allow people to see us and go 'oh wow I'd love to join' :D. I think there needs to be something to entice people in, that shows them how amazing we are before they join.

That's definitely one approach, yeah. I'm not a huge fan of that because it would create an additional level of player permissions config (I'm lazy :p) and might lead to even more confusion with new players that already seem to struggle with our whitelisting process.

All in all I'm much more pro the idea of people making videos (like the awesome one's toString made) and we can use those to give people a taste of the server.
