I've invested a fair amount of time in FIFA 10 and I was wondering if I grabbed a copy of the newest one for my 360 would that pick up from where I am now just with all the new features or would it be like starting a fresh new game?

Huddersfield are currently top of the premiership (lol) and I don't want to give that up for better gfx but I've enjoyed this a lot more than I expected so I'd be happy to pay to upgrade it so long as I don't have to start from scratch.

Its a whole different game now. It will take you a few hours to adjust to the new defending, maybe you won't even like the new defending.

Check out the official thread.

right and it wouldn't pick up from where I am ie my scout is still off looking for a new GK and my next match is Newcastle in the FA cup I think?

Career mode doesn't carry over from previous FIFA's unfortunately so you're out of luck there.

I'd get FIFA 12 though even though you'd have to start from fresh mainly because Euro 2012 DLC is out in 3 weeks time. So will keep you occupied until FIFA 13 (or wait for that)

Why would anyone recommend FIFA 12 because of Euro 2012 :p. Get it cos of Ultimate Team or the slightly improved/more annoying manager mode that the OP enjoys...

So what modes do you guys play? I play all the games I don't sim them I just like being able to jumble up the squad etc. Seems quite limited to me which I like, retains the arcadey feel whilst being able to trade up to better players.

The main FIFA nuts here play FUT mainly so we can help line EAs pockets and perhaps if lucky make our own perfect dream team...

It's the biggest selling point of the game for me considering it's life cycle. Ultimate team was fun for a few months but no longer appeals to me, I wish there was a Football game that actually focused on realism as opposed to Ultimate teams hyper driven formula. The standard seasons modes is as close as it gets but still doesn't hold a candle to the glory days of PES.

Ultimate team is worth it if you want to spend some cash getting the players you want (either by buying packs) or buying coins (this option is far cheaper) then buying the players you want with said coins as someone who is new to it it'll be amazing but I'm no longer fond of it and am hoping the next PES/FIFA is amazing. Too many flaws in the game then again I consider myself a hardcore sports gamer so maybe I'm annoyed by things most aren't.

Hmmm... I'm happy with the manager mode and just playing through the games.. I really can't face it getting geeky or having millions of button presses to do crazy trick shots.

All I really want to do is get better at set pieces.

Geekier in what way? :p

The Master League mode in PES sounds exactly like what you're looking for. Long single player campaign where you can scout players, buy wonderkids and watch them develop into top players, you can alter your training schedules and stuff like that too. There's much more depth in it than there is in the career mode for FIFA. Plus it's much more arcadey so you'll enjoy that aspect.

that always struck me as the geekier option?

Think that's changed now. I was never a hardcore fan one way or the other of either franchise but I've played both current versions (and own PES) and PES is certainly more arcadey and simpler to pick up with some mates without spending an hour going through the controls with them.

If you want geek then that's FIFA's UT.
