Proposals to block porn access in the UK!

20,000 reported cases of child abuse in the UK alone. That's quite popular. And that's those who actually abuse children, not just look at pictures - ergo, the number can only be higher than that.

Child abuse != child porn.

Come on, are you really suggesting child porn is as popular, or anywhere close to as popular as porn?

Not if Google are instructed to not return the results. They already filter results for certain criteria.

Are you really this naive?

"Naive", says that guy who doesn't understand the most basic principles of web filtering.

You can't block what isn't catagorised, if a file is named 232sdfsdf.jpg, how does google magically block the results? Porn is too ubiquitous to be blocked by keyword filtering. I've come across illegal pornography from the most innocuous search terms, nevermind normal stuff.

:D lol, excuses excuses!!!

And that was with safe search on which just proves my point about google being unable to properly filter the content they deliver. Keyword and url filtering only works when every domain and file contains specified terms which a signficiant amount of pornography doesn't, and a further caveat is that you have to know the terms you need to filter in the first place, many terms used are clearly unknown to google and other filtering authorities as a safe search indicates.

"Naive" from the guy who can't see his own point nullified his own point.

Safe search on == a lot less 'unsafe' results than safe search off. Effective filtering, right there folks.

The problems started generations back when we started to breed people who took no personal responsibility for anything they did or do. Sadly these whits of **** became parents who are unable to self sensor what their kids see so the governments who caused the problem through not putting it's **** in place back in the day is trying to put a plaster over the hole caused by one of their 2000lbs bomb craters. Another example of closing the gate after the horse has bolted, had some kids, died, whose kids have come back and burnt the farm down where the gate once was that should have been shut before the original horse was born.

Did you just echo the exact same thing I said? Oh yes, you just did!

No. Did you really just think I did?

I didn't echo what you said. You stated child abuse, which is a large category involving lots of things.

But anyway, the whole point is banning something so popular becomes very difficult.

I love the idea of ringing up my ISP and saying "Hello, I'd like some porn please", and then if they're slow about turning it on I'd have to ring up and get irate about it "well that just isn't acceptable! I haven't had a tommy tank in 5 days now, so what are you going to do about that!?"

Well done, you've put the finger right on the problem. Now what? Just sit back a revel in the awesomeness that is your observational skills? No, I think actually doing something to make it even slightly more difficult for children, those both with and without parents who give a **** to look at graphic materials such as hardcore porn is a bit more productive. :p

:D

Hey ISP I've got the oil ready, I'm getting limp here please turn the filter off!

There will always be a work-around - Don't know why they bother >_>'

O2 do this. They require you to bring ID to an O2 store to get porn on your phone.

I just brought my drivers license along to my local O2 store and asked for my porn please lol.
