Garage damaged my wheels

So I'm normally really fussy about where to take my car, but I needed my spare front tyres fitting, as after Spa and the 'Ring the current ones looked like:

5mm on them before I went out. :D

So anyway I rang around this morning, and got a price of £10 by a garage I'd seen some Japanese cars outside of so thought perhaps they are half decent.

I watched him take the old tyres off and I watched him drop the crow bar on both wheels causing marks that were not there before. They are only small, but noticeable.

I pointed this out and he said he'd fix it.

He put the replacement tyres on, and put the wheels back on the car. He then used some black touch up paint, which would never work as the wheels themselves had marks on.

He point blank refused to help further, he wouldn't give me his name, the owners name or contact details, or their insurance details. I recorded him admitting the damage. All he would do is tell me to come back a week later when the boss was back.

I took plenty of pics, I know for a fact the wheels were unmarked before as I'm quite meticulous with wheels and check them most days.

I had to leave in the end as he wasn't helping anymore and I was a split second from laying into the guy.

I called the police, not interested, I called my insurance company, not interested unless I potentially use my NCB, the garage isn't registered with the Motor Trade association.

The only plus point I have is that there was a Euro Car parts van there, and the driver agreed with me. I'll call them and see if I can get the garages VAT number.

Anything else I can do?

Apart from e-slander and complaining to the manager/owner there isn't much else you can do apart from small claims court - and although what he has done is very annoying and a bit crud I doubt it's worth all the time and effort.

^^^IMO

The wheels look fairly battered anyway? Are you just trying to get a free refurb out of them? (be honest now! :P)

The wheels are mint, the only thing wrong with them in the pics is that they are caked in brake dust.

This morning they were completely curb and mark free.

s****es cannot be helped, chips can.

Your alloys do look a bit tired in the pics though? Maybe just the camera angle like you said.

It's probably just because of the fact I've done about 35 laps of Spa and 6 of the 'ring, they just need cleaning properly, something I've not had the time to do since home.

Surely you didnt call the police because a guy at a tyre depot damaged your wheels?

This is a civil matter, if they wont play ball then small claims is the way forward.

Yes, I called the Police, because I didn't know what else to do. The guy damaged my wheels and refused to give me his name, insurance details, garage owner details etc. I've never had to deal with such a situation before because I normally avoid back street muppets like the plague.
