I just bought a house!

My dads an electrican, he's been in the trade for 30+ years and as such, built up a decent working relationship between himself and builders, plumbers, painters etc.... so any work done on the house will be pennies thankfully

Now that is very handy. :)

Congrats on the purchase, must feel awesome having your own house.

Contract signed yesterday, keys getting picked up next Friday, girlfriend just spent £200 on house "stuff" when do I start regretting this?

good luck with it!
we were about your age when we bought our house - my advice would be dont expect to be taken seriously when trying to buy housey stuff (boiler/kitchen/glazing etc) - no one seems to except twenty-somethings to own!
just out of interest did the estate agents take you seriously?
maybe i was just unlucky!

No pictures yet, I will get some next week, when we've got the keys.

and yeah, the estate agent took us seriously, looking forward to trying to buy white goods from Currys/Comet etc... finding the one we want in store, then getting it online cheaper lol

The second that she paints the room you had marked down as your man cave, pink.

Already claimed my man cave, and it's as long as its not pink I don't care what colour it is, it's going to be covered in concert tickets and pictures (not posters)

Not really looking forward to boxing up the past 24 years though, how to condense an entire life into a few boxes?

and then there's the unpacking!

Is it weird that I'm not looking forward to spending the next week boxing stuff up, only having to unbox it later?

Last time I moved house, I think I had about 20 to 25 large bin bags worth of junk to throw out, half our stuff went to a charity shop, and most of our other stuff was sold. It still took us a month to pack though!

Good luck. Start boxing as early as possible.

No point boxing my life up yet, my other half wants to move in asap, but we need to get the carpets done, one of the fireplaces removed, the chimney breast (lol) removed and the kitchen ripping and out replacing, not to mention the possibility of adding a garage/utility room extension.

I don't plan on moving in perminantly until the end of May at least

Wow 125k, that's one bargain, houses down my area roughly 3 times as much, shame that's its sheffield, but hey ho grats!

The house was actually 95k, we've got a total (including mortgage) of 125k to do the house up, girlfriend wants to move in asap, but I just want to wait til the kitchens done before moving in.

Moving out of my parents place is going to be difficult, the past 24 years have been E-Z!

Congrats! Just got my first place recently as well. Stamp duty is painful!

First place? Must have been fairly recent as stamp duty was only reinstated about 2 weeks ago! I managed to get in a couple of days before, saving £1650!

Edit - first move with your GF and it isn't into a rented house, bold! Congrats tho.:D

Girlfriend of 8 years,

Fiance as of last November

We're pretty compatable, for example, we argued last night about something insignificant, argument ended in sex.

WIN!

Just bough a kitchen, guess how much?
