Just managed to get 53 plate Clio DCI 100 with just under 50k on the clock for £2200 and was wondeirng what to exspect as this is my 1st car.

Edit: can a mod change MK to MK2 please

Seems expensive, it'll be dull as hell and not a great place to spend a great deal of time, but it's a first car, could have been worse!

Nothing wrong with the DCI 100 or the Clio chassis. £2200 is a pretty good price imo, I've seen DCI 65 and 80s for more.

Enjoy it. Sign up to www.cliosport.net for plenty of help with it, its mainly for Clio Sports but there's a few on there with diesels.

I've just bought the clio sport interior for it so i might qualify :P

I bought it on the low road tax and high mpg but with 100bhp and 180nm of torque i was wondering what it would be like as the stats beat the new diesel zetec s and is lighter.

I was wondering how important is torque is and is it some thing i will notice over a petrol car ?

Yeah you will notice it on the diesels. I have a Clio 172 which has no torque, has to be revved to get anywhere

Just noticed you're in Derby, if you have any issues with it go see Mick at www.diamondmotors.co.uk. He's a proper Renault specialist.

It's a 100hp diesel, you're not going to notice the awesome torque.

Did you not test drive it?

100bhp would be perfectly adequate in something as light as a Clio I'd imagine.

Torque in the context of performance isn't important, power is.

You probably won't need to stir the gearbox as much as the petrol equivalent though. It's a matter of taste if that's a good or bad thing.

I collect it next weekend and only ever drove a fiesta ECO

And Thank you for that, The 1st thing iam looking to do is get the timing belt changed.

It's your first car. It doesn't matter what it is, you'll love it and the freedom it gives and always look back at it with fondness :p

I've only ever sat in a Clio once, and that was to move a friends as it was blocking me in. From first impressions, I really didn't like the interior. It was extremely pasticky and not nice plastic either. However it seems yours has a decent engine. 100bhp in that car will be a hoot. Enjoy.

I have the same car on a 04 plate.

I have done 110,000 miles in it over the last 3 years. It can shift for what it is. 100bhp in a car that size is perfectly adequate. 60-70mpg on the motorway at 65-70mph is the norm.

It's had nothing done other than wear and tear items and the total mileage is now 184,000.

I find it perfectly comfortable in Dynamique trim. Seats are excellent as is the ride. Before anyone jumps to conclusions about necessity and choice, for context I have 2 other cars to use. 10 plate Mercedes CLS and a 08 plate Audi A4 cabriolet.

I am starting to use the Audi more now. I bought it to take over the commuting duties (167 miles one way) and decided that the Renault wasn't worth selling. The fact that I am still happy to use the Renault signifies to me that despite many peoples presumptions it's a pretty decent car. (or I'm a masochist as friends used to tell me when I did the commute in my VX Turbo :-) )

You bought a car you didn't drive first?

Yes as it was a good price for what it was and would off been 3k or more for something of the same spec.

Also i wouldnt really know what to look for in car as i have not long passed my dads misses has the DCI 65 and he said its good to drive

The running cost was the main appeal to the car for me.

This is good to know as most i have seen have silly high mileage on them as the 100 is quite rare as i understand and was planning on a DCI 80
