That's the exact answer I was looking for thanks.
Thank you for contacting Nokia Careline.
We appreciate your interest for Nokia products. Please be advised that Microsoft takes very seriously meeting (and exceeding) the requirements outlined by agencies such as the FCC in the USA. They felt it was really important to fully address the concerns raised by recent FCC regulations before enabling this feature and are optimistic they can deliver on these requirements though a software update and are working diligently on that now.
Our aim is to introduce wifi tethering as an update to existing products early in 2012. As of now, we will be unable to provide the exact date of when the tethering will be available on the Nokia Lumia 800.
We would like to ask for your kind patience and understanding regarding this matter. Again, thank you for your continous support for Nokia products and services.
If you have any other concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us again.
I believe Amazon were doing them for £330 but no idea if this is the cheapest or not...Whats the current best price to get one of these sim-free?

I've already said earlier in this thread that it will be in the next update...Almost yay ... HURRY UP!
This.Yes. Download the latest updated version (2.0) and make sure the Connection setting is set to offline. The previous version searched on a server only so required data, but not now.
Nokia have released a table giving the status of the latest update by carrier:

Finally got my handset back today and so far so good. Latest update installed, diagnostics showing a discharge rate of 83mAh. But that is with no connection to wi-fi and no SIM installed so it isn't doing much. I'll give it a run for its money tomorrow.

I'm stuck between getting one of these, or the new HTC One.
This phone is the much cheaper option at the moment, can get a used one for £200...how would i stand with the warranty if anything went wrong with it? Would it be covered by nokia care?
