Car Parking

Hi,

This is kind of a strange one.

We have a tiny of road car park opposite us. It has a 2 hour no-return restriction which has never been enforced.

Today, on Good Friday of all days, the parking attendant is out - we were lucky enough to see him and move the car but the other people who use the car park were not so lucky and were, understandably, fuming.

The car has no meters, has about 10 spaces and is really useful as residents parking is a nightmare with more cars than spaces.

The question I have is how do we go about getting this changed to an unrestricted car park? Does any one have any idea how?

Many thanks,

M.

Pop down to the council and find out?

Get a petition signed by local residents asking for it to be changed.

Chain yourself to a railing until they agree to change it.

Nuke it from orbit.

Kill it with fire.

I think I got lost somewhere...

Buy it? Maybe I'm missing something but if its council owned - why would they change it so you can use it as an extension to your own car park?

It's residental - it's right next to a business but they don't own it. I wouldn't be using it as an extension of my own car park (as I don't have one) there's flats there as well.

What normally happens in this type of thing is that you get a residents permit but that's not available.

Like I said it's just a tiny area holding about 8 cars and is convenient when everyone parks on the roads just to have a sort of buffer area - people park in it overnight as the restrictions 8am to 6pm 1 hours parking no return in 2 hours (just looked).

It's just ridiculous in my opinion. More so because up until today no body had a ticket and now, on Good Friday, some idiot has sent out a parking attendant to it.

Nobody that you know of. And it is more likely that 'some idiot' did this at the request of a local resident.

Traffic wardens = Satan's green coated helpers, hate them! lol

Not that I've ever had a ticket, but what a horrible job they must have, I wonder if the suicide rate is as high as lawyers

TBH I can't see the council changing the parking rules to suit the convenience of some local residents, if there is a genuine parking issue in the area that may be a different story.

There are a couple of roads in Norwich that are up to 2 hours paid parking 9:00 to 18:00 Mon - Sat then on Sunday permit holders only. I guess the idea being that out of normal working hours it acts as extra parking for local residents. The reality is that the street is always empty on a Sunday as people have had to find somewhere to park on the Saturday anyway.

True but I would say that the guy next door clipped the bus stop and got a ticket yet everyone who was parked over the road (in the car park) didn't (mine and my wifes car were parked there).

It's never, ever, been enforced until yesterday. Whilst today there's not been anyone around.

It's ridiculous - the parking is horrendous here - it's not going to make much difference to my life as I'll park in front of someone elses house instead but I find that unfair on them. Having this tiny car park opposite made it easier and made it less frustrating for residents. You can park in there overnight but have to move it at 8am - it's stupid.

Where has common sense gone to.
