685 GTX specs GK110

anyone with a bit of knowledge in hardware knows that this card is ready already

but as amd doesn't have anything superior we wont see it before amd refresh

its good that nvidia has more than 6 month to make it even more better

thats what i am waiting for

There's always a new card out "soon" so if we listened to you we'd never purchase hence everyone ignoring you.

i'll have the last laugh dont you worry, i'm already laughing

because many of you are moaning like crazy simply because you brought too early, dont complain about the prices because that's not the problem is it.

what annoys you, is that you have to sell your 680 at a loss, just to buy this new 685 in sept..... but you still dont realise that the 685 is not the best card to get.

nvidia/AMD have got you by the balls, because they know you'll keep buying and selling more than once in a year, like a crazy roundabout, the cycle never ends, why dont you wait a few months.... research on Google and buy the best card that's due out this year and keep it for 2 to 3 years, what is it about this that you dont understand.

finally why buy now ?.............. there's no good games due out till aug/ sept, so what's the mad rush, i dont have a single game worth playing..... only Serious Sam or Borderlands, i have to wait for FAR CRY 3, BORDERLANDS 2 and Bioshock

or, they might just be making their new gen. When AMD refresh, they'll release the 680/5 (as the 780) and then they can be firt with the next gen aswell.

U high bro?

The question is do we wait until end of april to buy a good non reference 680 (assuming prices drop a little) or...totally wait it out for the 685/780. I think they have it ready and waiting tbh.. probably want to see what amd will do first... although i reckon 690/dual gpu chip will be out end of april/may right after 7990.

dam u nvidia dam uuuuuuu

I think its a shame that there is only 2 competitors, as they both need each other to keep the industry alive and keep progression within a time-period cycle.

If there were 3 or 4, it would be much less likely that collaboration would occur due to the unknown release dates/time period. Whole ranges would be released at once, not the best first, then a slightly dummed down model a month later, then a new best a week later.....and so on.

Ofcourse i will buy when the time is right, its just a shame that prices don't drop off quicker due to constant production/reproduction or people not buying the product when the prices get ridiculous.

I actually agree with this sentiment. I only buy a new graphics card every 2-3 years and will ussually buy whatever is best at the time (budget notwithstanding).

.

there isn't...... there's the Chinese too, they're just not up and running yet, just wait a few years and they'll flood the market.... because you can already see their ****, i.e that ``Alien Facehugger`` freighter GTX 680, plus paints to decorate it :D

i can't understand what nvidia are doing, YES i knew these cards were coming out, but it's all a mess.... different names, different CPU/ KEPLER whatever GK i dont know....do you

why not release them in order, according to porformance, but no, it's going low end first... then high end..... then finally mid range

they're releasing the high end card to counter the 7990..... but why because only a few will ever buy it.

i dont understand why we're getting the GTX 685, unless AMD are releasing a 8000 series soon, after all, the GTX 680 is outselling the 7970, so why release another single card this year, there's no need to

this is great for me..... but if all of these cards are 500 to 600 quid, then there's only one card worth buying and this is obviously :- the fastest of the two dual cpu cards.

my guess is the GTX 685 ``after market cooler`` will be close to 600 quid and the dual card GTX 690 600 quid as well.......... oh dear oh dear, this means when these custom GTX 685 cards come out ( a month after the reference)..... smart money will say ``no way, i'm getting the 690, it's 35 FPS faster but the same price``

You talk in hidden meanings and metaphors I really struggle to understand what the hell you mean? They haven't got me by the balls at all, I'm happy with my 680. I'm also not moaning about the price either. It's not like I spent my last £420 on a GTX 680. There's plenty more where they came from. Where I spend my disposable income isn't really any of your concern mate.

Of course I'm going to sell my 680 at a loss you fool. That's generally the deal when you sell something.

I bought the best card available at the point I wanted to upgrade. My card at the time couldn't handle the games I play (HD 6870). Are you drunk - your post is insane :)

it's still a GTX 680, not a new comptitor

your point being?

it's high end, low end, mid. That's how its been for some time now

so you think nvidia should sit idly by whilst AMD take all the enthusiast sales?!

i dont understand why we're getting the GTX 685, unless AMD are releasing a 8000 series soon, after all, the GTX 680 is outselling the 7970, so why release another single card this year, there's no need to
source? maybe nvidia want to try blowing AMD out of the water with powerful cards.

no, it isn't a case of the dual GPU will be the only one worth buying. Dual GPU cards are usually the same price or slightly more than two of the GPU's in SLI.xfire

my guess is the GTX 685 ``after market cooler`` will be close to 600 quid and the dual card GTX 690 600 quid as well.......... oh dear oh dear, this means when these custom GTX 685 cards come out ( a month after the reference)..... smart money will say ``no way, i'm getting the 690, it's 35 FPS faster but the same price``

Don't be stupid. No large company with a CEO who has a brain would dream of releasing two products at the same price when one is better than the other in every aspect. The 685 and 690 will NOT be the same price.

Are you drunk - your post is insane :)

I'm putting my money on him being high...

to be honest my 680's in SLI play everything I chuck at them at max settings at 2560 x 1600, so why would I want to sell them and get 685's?

Mal X does amaze me....Anyone who has bought a 680 is a fool, yet here I am playing BF3 at full res with 70-120 fps. I question why the distain towards us who bought a 680?

Maybe you want one?

Also you rant at anything about NVIDIA then you say you want one.

Edit:

Also if the 685 is such a beast of a card, I will prolly drop this 680 in my 2nd comp and trump up the obama's for the 685 ;)

Mal X is always posting on about which card he's going to buy, often comparing single/dual GPU performance like for like. He also is always going on about which cards are coming out on the horizon and anyone who buys a card now is having their pants removed.

Fact is, we're (talking figuratively) all enjoying our physical cards in our physical machines while Mal X dreams about the next big card based on sourceless rumours. It's all a bit boring.

Absoloutely correct. I used to play with medium settings on my 560ti as I had to turn off AA in ultra mode, as it would turn into a slideshow. Now BF3 in all glory, looks stunning.

Improved the game for me but not my skill :p
