Mentions ivy bridge in 1st part of the video

Ivy Bridge CPU's are not available to buy yet.

New motherboards (H77/Z77 chipsets) are available now though Sandy Bridge CPU's will also work in a lot of earlier S1155 motherboards.

I think only people with more money than sense will be replacing SB with IB to be honest.

Agree with this tbh. Altho I personaly can't wait for ivy as when that hits full system build for me :). I was going to upgrade may last year, but decided to wait for bully (always been a fan of amd budget systems). But with bully being a wimp decided to get ivy this year.

Still running a C2D e6850 here. Wondering whether to upgrade to IB or it'll still be good till haswell.

Bah, I've been sitting on socket 775 for what seems like an eternity there's no way I'm skipping yet another generation of CPU's just to see what they bring to the market. Besides IB ticks all the boxes for me (expect for price which remains to be seen) due to jump in features I'll be getting over S775 - PCI 3.0, USB 3, SATA 6, 28nm CPU's and potential for massive overclocks.

my thoughts exactly, although if I'm honest my PC is still doing a good job...still I've bought the RAM and motherboard, just the wait for the CPU now...

Depends on what you do with the PC. If it still works fast for your needs then don't waste your money :)

I'm still waiting for native hex cores -.-

3 weeks to go and lets pray its out.... have been "basket pretend shopping at ocuk for 3 years without pressing the payment option......at least my Q6600 pc will submit the order:)

gonna see a big flood of used 2500k/2600k chips:p

Not a massive jump from these chips surely? Lower TDP and better IGP (which most gamers won't use) and pci-e 2.0 not even satuarated by current Gfx cards let alone 3.0.

Will we see a 20% gain in performance? Otherwise not worth upgrading from the cpu's mentioned above.

honestly i could be tempted to chop my 2600k in for an IB, obviously once some benchies are in and clocking info is available i'll make a decision its always nice to treat yourself to a new toy :) i've skipped this round of GPUS so i'm due something new and shiny
