I'm sure I've seen that film years ago, don't remember a monkey butler. Must be time to give it another watch :)

Packet switched networks had been coming in in the years leading up to it. I don't think it would be beyond the realm of probability that industry experts would be able to see the possible scope for it in the future?

here's a prediction - in the future cars that run on electricity will be commonplace...
 
I'm with the educated guess rather than a phaniminal prediction. We can see where technology is heading and what is being researched and make predictions 20-30 years out.
