Travel sub-forum?

Can we have a subforum for subforum requests please? waitwut??

Now that something I would support a decent search function. It's pretty useless at the moment especially with three letter limit and removing common words. They might be common but when I search for a specific phrase they aren't and when you remove them, you get a million hits, rather than one thread. Some way to rage threads could also make it far easier to search, but that would need to be in VB update.

I think GD has been quiet of late and further diluting things maybe not be such a good idea.

The whole forum has been much quieter recently.

I think that there should be one subforum added ... one for conspiracy theories, lizardmen, etc etc etc ... the usual nutjob stuff that appears in GD.

If that stuff was moved out of GD then it would be lot easier to see the Travel, Gardening etc threads and hence subforums wouldn't be needed for those. It would also be easier to ignore the subforum of nutters ...

If you moved all that "stuff” out GD would become a wasteland with a few posts here and there about travel, home and garden. What a boring place it would become.

The great advantage in not diluting GD is that you retain a great mix of visitors and that ensures a wide and interesting response to posts. Requests for travel information which make up the vast majority of travel posts in here would just not be answered in the same way if they were moved to a sub-forum. The same will go for other “niche” subjects.

I’m sure that the vast majority of people do not want to trawl through yet another sub-forum. I for one most certainly won’t bother looking if you start diluting the place. I suspect the travel, home and garden will just become backwaters like “On the Water”, just frequented by the “boring” few.

If you want to keep getting a broad range of responses then you do not go diluting the place with sub-forums. Leave as is and you will continue to have a lively forum with likelihood of getting an interesting response to whatever subject you choose to post.

Woulnd't mind it! Been reading the travel section on TSR a lot recently as i want to go InterRailing and travel round Asia. Considering ive been on here since 06 (wow 6 years), know a few faces and it's generally a sound place for a bit of advice it wouldnt be a bad idea

Yep, SC is dead these days. Hence why I don't think diluting things is a good idea otherwise you'll have to same few people going over the same things again and again and it will also get rather stale.

Would be pretty amazing if we had this kind of area to discuss experiences from previous travels and to post pictures as well, from the fine places we've visited.

Terrible idea.

People love holidays, and many people take a holiday a year. However, fewer people care about 'travel' and helping those go on holiday. There just wouldn't be the footfall in a dedicated thread.

I'd probably post quite a lot in such a forum where it to exist, but at the same time wouldn't be particularly bothered if it existed or not.

I've no idea what that brings to the debate, but there we go
