Anyone used either or both?

I do like the idea of the customisable RAT and the quick change batteries 9i always forget to charge the mouse) but not sure if it would actually be comfortable for long term use or if it's just gimiky.

the g700 looks nice but does seem to have far too many buttons and has the advantage of wireless or just plug in the usb and use that.

currently use a very old logitech MX revolution which is excellent but dying.

So folks which do you recommend?

I have a R.A.T 7 and seriously, it is the most comfortable mouse I've used in a long time, it can be a bit oversensitive but you have a button to change that on the fly to 4 set values.

Coupled with the mode button, which is actually a tad annoying to reach while using the mouse... it does offer the ability to change the other 3 buttons to another use.

Excellent mouse with amazing customization, can't comment on how good the wireless is but i never had issues with standard 2.4ghz with my old logitech, much prefer the cable now.

I will never ever get or recommend the RAT after mine broke within a week.

It also had an issue with rocking even on a flat surface due to the poor design (Needed pads pulled off of another mouse to stop it). Yes it felt comfortable but if you pay such a premium you expect a mouse that will work flawlessly. I bought 1 of the first batch after they were released, so whether the issues are fixed now, who knows, but I won't buy from them again.

Buy Logitech.

hmmm that is worrying, yeah logitech stuff is solid as a rock, my mx rev has been been beaten, battered and even partially melted and it's still going strong (did recently need a DIY tweak to the right click micro switch though.)

My RAT 7 died after 1 month, went for a Steelseries Sensei and would never look back, its just a "fuller" mouse with so much more to configure (software-wise).

Yeah, it's my personal experience, but that's how you have to tell people these things, likewise I had 4 SGS2's which broke, where-as my girlfriends works flawlessly, but I can't recommend that phone even though it's great, due to my personal experience with it.

I'd personally go with:
Logitech G500 / MX518
Razer DeathAdder 3G
Steelseries Xai / Sensei

All of them are solid choices.

I love my G700. You can use as little of the buttons as you like obviously, but I do make a lot of use out of the buttons on left click, for a melee strike say and DPI toggle. I love the mouse wheel, it's got the regular notched movement, or you can unlock it for spinning through documents and it really does spin, great feeling of weight to it.

About the battery side of it, when I get a low warning, I just plug in the data cable and carry on for a bit, then take it back out. The wireless receiver is minute as well, almost like a usb dust cap.

It's built like a tank, comfy, loads of features, looks fancy and sleek, but understated. I would get another without blinking is this one died.

with the buttons it's not that there are too many to use it's that it looks like there's so many so close together they'd get in the way of each other/be uncomfortable.

do you have any issues with that?

The Cyborg RAT 9 is gimmicky and looks terrible. Logitech all the way! Still using my 5yr old G5, best mouse ever!

Logitech g700 without a doubt. I've had two now and they're great, the first only broke because I threw it across the room in rage XD

I've had two rat9s and they both broke, one within a day so I threw the second in the bin and said **** it. Over a £100 in the bin.

I have a 9 and love it. It's the 3rd I've had because of faults with the others (and I agree, an expensive mouse should be flawless) but if this one died, I'd probably get another. I love them.

Fact is, if you're gaming and you want a wireless mouse, there's probably a reason you want a wireless mouse (mine is because I play on my sofa and repeatedly kick out leads) and if the battery dies on 99% of wireless mice, it needs to be plugged in which defeats the point of having a wireless.

The RAT9 takes about 10 seconds to change battery and most of that is getting the other battery and plugging the old one in.

I never got used to the RAT 9, sold it after a couple months.
i had the RAT 5 not the 9, however i'm the same, just couldnt get comfortable with it, i really wanted to, i love the design and it worked great but in the end i found the back of the mouse where it sits in the cup of your hand to be too high for my hand, so relegated it to the family computer and i went back to good old logitech g500.

also i dont know if the faults have been rectified or what but i remember lots of stories of the lasers optical sensor on the RAT 9 being pretty poo:confused:
