Which is best out of Motherboard onboard audio or GPU onboard audio ??

Does anyone know which is best out Motherboard onboard audio chips and GPU onboard audio chips ?

Or do they both normally use the same audio chip ??

Most manufacturers use Realtek audio codec's. Asus mainly use ADI codecs. Some may use Creative X-fi. Sound quality between these is about the same.

I'm sure the audio on graphic cards is done by AMD or Nvidia.
 
GPU audio comes out digital (usually over HDMI), so the decoder/amp/speaker system or whatever you've got at the end of the cable will determine the sound quality. This is likely to be better (actually, definitely) than analogue motherboard sound output - i.e. 3.5mm audio jacks. Motherboards usually have optical audio out too, which is digital again. HDMI can support a higher quality of digital sound signal (higher bitrate, newer audio standards like dts-hd) than optical, technically speaking, but I can't hear the difference to be honest!

Minor nitpick: if you are using the HDMI out just conencted to your tv, and someone else uses the 3.5 output connected to dedicated speakers, the dedicated speakers will almost certainly be better. But you're right - the quality of the speakers is what's important (TV speakers can't compare with a dedicated speaker set, digital or analogue).
