Guild Wars 2

I assumed that when the pre-purchase started the release date would also be announced... feel a little uneasy about pre-purchasing a game without there being a release date on the table so I guess ill hold off for a while.

I guess I'll bite the bullet and go down the pre-purchase route then. Never bought a game this way before...

I have to give it a go though, the youtube vids just make it look so much more dynamic than SWTOR.

The release date is '2012' so if they told you it would be 31-12-2012 would that be better?

Does anyone know how Zavvi is going be giving us the beta access and 3 day early access if we pre-purchase the collectors edition?

They will ship out a box with the pre-purchase code in.

Because I'v never seen a game miss it's 'release year'. Oh wait I have, in fact It's pretty common.

+1.

this is why i have not pre purchase this game.

i am probably more of a die hard gw fan then most here but i am not throwing my cash into thin-air until there is a official release date for this game.

i keep saying time and time again that this game may not even come out this year. delays/issues happen and i rather ArenaNet release a bug free game instead of a bug riddled game just to please some people having it released this summer. if it takes them till next year to iron out and fix all the major bugs then so be it. Just dont release it when it aint ready just to please the people that are inpatient.

I am going to wait for a release date announcement, i cant bring my self to throw 50 quid at something that isn't available yet. Hoping for a release date for the end of july/aug myself.

Out of curiosity, does anyone know whether they could refuse people cancelations with this method? I imagine they've went down this route to make people think that they can't just cancel if they don't like the beta but i can't imagine them being able to stop anyone from doing so.

its better then "no release date"

yea lets take your money now and we'll let u know when its done:rolleyes:

It is the same logic.

You either have a release date and don't trust it.

Or you don't have a release date and trust they'll deliver.

I can understand that you don't want to put your money somewhere where you don't know when you'll see a return, but I don't agree that no release date (considering they've said 2012, are ramping up their customer exposure with betas, pre-orders and events) is any different to giving a release date that they could miss anyway.

Just for clarification the code you get for "pre-purchasing" is not a beta code, its the actual retail product for the full game.

If you buy the Standard edition.

I doubt they'd let you get a refund after sending you the product code. I think what they'll do is make you use the retail code on an account and have that linked with your beta, so you've already used the code.

Ordered from Zavvi, had a 10% off code and quidco offer says £4 off £40 so if that works it'll come in at ~£40 which isn't too bad. Hopefully the game is decent :p

If you do not want to pre-purhcase - Don't.

Do not whine about it here just because the offer along with weekend beta access is given to those who do want to pre-purchase for the bonuses currently listed.

Do not whine if there are stock issues on release date either.

Was just looking around the GW2 site:

Everyone plays at the same level in Guild Wars 2 PvP, where skill and strategy provide players with the winning edge. All players are set to max level and given all the skills and gear they need to meet their opponents on even terms.

This is what I was after. PvP characters are what made the first game so great, no messing about having to level characters, getting the right gear (half of which you can't do without PvEing), long grinds etc.

It has the fun of games like the new generation of FPSs where you select your class, pick your loadout (skills) and go or LoL where you select a champion then you're on even footing with the other players. Whenever I PvPd in WoW, it was all grinding to get to a good place with your gear, then finding a team was impossible because it took no skill to get the gear and there's no other way of telling if someone's any good (apart from arena ratings and most good players already were in teams). Hopefully the rank system from the original GW is back. People didn't win much in HoH without skill so it was a really good judge of how good someone actually was. Anyone with a bear or above was garuanteed to have a decent knowledge of PvP.

Sorry who was whining? I haven't seen any whine at all?

I'm sure nobody has any problem at all with what Anet are offering, people are just giving reasons why they will not jump aboard the purchase train just yet, unless your suggesting a discussion forum shouldn't be used for discussion?

Also stock issues on a digitally downloaded game?
