I just bought a house!

Thats still not bad at all, I think the going rate is about 1.5k plus search fees.

Nah ours was £625+VAT including search fees with the exception of the mining search which was advised after the survey and not included in the original quote from the solicitor. The mining search was £43 iirc.

I am confused, is that the kitchen you bought already fitted? Or is yours like that! Or are you stripping that out and shipping it to your place?

Thats the kitchen as fitted in the showroom,

Need to get the correct measurements and then the guy is going to build the extra parts to our specs

First place? Must have been fairly recent as stamp duty was only reinstated about 2 weeks ago! I managed to get in a couple of days before, saving £1650!

Edit - first move with your GF and it isn't into a rented house, bold! Congrats tho.:D

Yeah recent-ish, completed in Feb but still renovating so haven't moved yet - the place is a shell. What do you mean stamp duty was reinstated a couple of weeks ago, thought it had been around for ages, would have loved to save on the five figure sum :(

..aaand it's my bf ;):D

Thats incredibly cheap even compared to Glasgow. I paid £128,000 for a 2 bedroom house last year. I even bought in a fairly rough post code as well.

Couldn't have been that rough as 2 beds can go for under £100K in the properly "rough" areas... What area?

So we should be getting picture tomorrow if my maths is correct...

Lol would love to put pictures up, but if all goes well I should have the keys tomorrow, the house insurance/mortgage advisor is holding things up at the moment, plus I'm working Friday to Monday so I won't get chance to go round till Tuesday.

**SMALL UPDATE**

So it's Friday 13th, I'm not superstitious but of all the days for something to go wrong, everything was in place, we were just waiting for the Mortgage company to accept our home insurance, however... this is where it goes wrong

The mortgage company aren't happy with the "wording" of the insurance quote, which basically says

"...as the survey noted, there has been some land movement since the house was built, nothing major, but the client will be unable to claim should anything happen as a result of this"

The survey said, the land movement is unlikely to happen again, but for some stupid reason the mortgage company won't release the funds, and thus we can't get the keys

(personally, I think it's just the mortgage company being picky and trying to get more money off us because of our small mortgage)

Anyways, until we can get an insurance quote that they are happen with, things are at a standstill, I have requested a quote from them which hopefully I can then beat by finding one cheaper online, I hate jumping through hoops just to get the keys, at least this stupid insurance thing is only for a year before we can get whoever we want, just gotta jump through hoops now so we can get the keys.

**BIG UPDATE**

FINALLY GOT THE KEYS! Stayed at the house Thursday night, moved some stuff in and took some measurements for the kitchen install.

Off to America on Tuesday but I will try and put some pictures up before I leave
