Resident Evil 6 20/11/2012

Well I'm looking forward to this. As much of a massive fan I was of the original games. I like the action pace to 4 and 5. so if 6 is more of the same I'll be happy. Someone earlier says that resident evil 4s betas looked good. They were paranormal enemies. That would have been a mistake to the franchise more so than making the game action styled. Resident evil or biohazard has always been about viruses and parasites. ghosts and possessed dolls!? It would have been a giant turd on the series. I can't wait for resident evil 6. Fingers crossed for good co op again.

Is Code Veronica HD worth picking up? I haven't played it before..

NO.

Code veronica was a product of it's time and should be left there. Extremely dated gameplay made more miserable by creating a larger yet wholly less interesting gameworld compared to its predecessors.

a-b-c-d-e-f-u-v-w-x-y-z

Go from f, to u, to w, to e, to x, to d, to y, to c, to z, to b, to z, to a, to z, to a, to z to a, to z to a.....

Arghhh so much backtracking and infuriating padding!

If this has good controls, meaty gun play and gore a plenty it will be just fine.

Problem with RE5 is it was a half way house, tank controls, FPS setting and it just wasnt that much fun to play.

RE4 was a mixture of both, but the balance was perfect, nothing was really too fast to get a bead on, on your first play through, even though they never let you run out of ammo you couldnt just rock and roll through it all.
Enemy types, mixture of settings, upgrade system, inventory system, all perfectly balanced.

I agree with this.

Capcom don't need to stick with the survival horror genre to keep me interested, they just need to make their mind up in terms of what they're going for. RE4 did indeed have a good balance, the controls were clunky but the enemies fitted this. In RE5 i constantly felt overwealmed as the enemies were more suited to an action game. They need to either back off a bit and slow things down, or go the whole hog and loosen up the controls. RE5 felt like a small child who couldn't make his mind up about which sweet to buy in the local shop and as a result broke down into a jumbled mess of nonsense.

Well I'm playing through Res Evil 5 now...never got around to completing it, lost my attention late game. Forgot how overwhelmed you could get when surrounded by several enemies, the controls just didn't work well with that.

It will be interesting to see how the new game plays out however from the trailer it looks as if there will be a lot more fluidity.

Just read the IGN review of revalations.

It was promising that the core gameplay mechanic seemed to have been improved, but a few things were irritating, which were exactly the things I found annoying about RE5.

Dull padding sections, pointless AI partner and silly 'episodic' missions.

Just, why?! Why include them? Nobody liked these things in RE5, it worked perfectly well in RE4, why not just drop the episodic content and partners all togther?

I hope that makers of 6 take note of any due criticism.

I was interested in Revelations, as it looked like it was kinda going back to the Resident Evil roots... but then I saw the stupid AI partner and and turned me right off.

It never worked in RE5, and they have it in this and RE6, Capcom are obsessed with it, I can't make it out.

The partner(s) are great in coop with a buddy, but single player games the partner should just be got rid of, they ruin the entire experience.

Problem is some of the puzzles are based around 2 characters. In Co-Op it works great, but in single player, the on the rail puzzle solving ability of the AI generally sucks. Problem is, how can you just remove it. As it would detract from the Co-op experience

Pre-populate the second player part, skip it for single player, change the puzzle, script a AI partner there for that puzzle, anything to get rid of the second AI partner. There is definitely things they can do to remove this AI character I'm sure.

I've not found one person who liked the AI partner, yet they persist with it!

It's all academic to me now anyway, cos I am rapidly losing all interest in anything Resident Evil these days sadly.

I might be the only one here but i'm not looking forward to this judging by the 2nd trailer. Looks exactly like the same **** that Resident Evil 5 had, just an action shooter and not survival horror.

I'll wait and see though.

You certainly are not the only one my friend, re5 was tripe, this looks like its following in the same footsteps. Just another genre changing its genre!

Bring back the days of Resident Evil 2 I say!

Right, I want a mansion with creepy gardens, I want normal zombies some zombie animals and the odd pita to kill creature.

This looks too much like 5 and in that case will be too easy and I will just run about popping anything that moves because I know I will have a ammo pick up in the next 30 seconds.

"What are ya buying?"

Wesker Jr! :p

Such a cheapass way to keep the name alive.

I wonder if he will pull of some Matrix moves naturally should all the superhuman BS from his daddy passed down to his blood. :D

And yeah people can hate on RE5 for all they want not being survival horror to the series anymore, but I sure as hell still enjoy that game. It's personally one of my best Co-op experiences ever.
