Hello,

Just wondering whether anyone has been to Canada before?

As it's my Dad's 50th Birthday next year and I was thinking it would be a nice surprise to maybe take him there (If we can afford it).

It would be something different, and a nice Birthday present.

My Dad has family out there in Toronto (I think) but doesn't speak to them, although my Nan does, and I was thinking of maybe getting in touch with them and seeing whether they know a few places to go to etc.

For all of those that have been,

Where did you go and would you recommend going there?
Did you like it?
What did you like about it?
What places did you go to see?
What's the weather like on a whole?

Many thanks.

I went to Vancouver Island about two years ago, and would absolutely recommend it. Canada is an extremely beautiful country, and there is lots to do out there :)

I like it so much I'm planning on moving out there :p I know a few people on here are also doing the same, so I doubt you'll find much negativity about Canada here :p

The weather seems take the stance; Very Hot in the Summer, Very Cold in the Winter :p

Went to Toronto many moons ago, thought it was a fantastic place.

Went to Skydome, CN Tower, Niagara Falls (falls were a little disappointing tbh).

People were friendly, transport was amazing didn't have to wait more than a few minutes on most things...

All in all it was awesome, so much so that I'd want to live there :D

Love the hot weather :p

I'd love to go, everyone I know who has been, says it's an amazing country

That's a shame, always wanted to see the Niagara Falls.

Seems very positive so far :D

Been to Toronto twice, once in 98 and 2 years ago. Fantastic city plenty to do and see. Last time we went we stopped at the Cosmopolitan spa, in the business district. We drove there from here (14 hr drive) and left the car in the parking garage for the 4 days we were there. You can get to most area's on foot depending where you stay.

You won't regret visiting. :)

Forgot to say when we went in mid august it was 100 F at Niagara Falls, we visited on the way to Toronto and just did the US side.

Meals there were HUGE when I went! Don't know if its still the same these days. Order a meal for one, and it would feed a family of four for three weeks :p

I want to go right now haha, glad that everyone has had positive feedback.

100F = around 37C, which is pretty hot tbf, but I quite like a bit of warmth. Does it get too warm, or is it a comfortable warm?

yeah it was a bit uncomfortable out of the shade, but it gets that hot here too. All depends on what the weather is doing though as with any where you go.

When does the 'Summer' start?

As my Dad's Birthday is in April, but I was thinking of going around end of May

I agree, been to Toronto twice in summer, great place.

I recommend travelling to Algonquin Park, beautiful place and Toronto Zoo, it's HUGE

Been Skiing in Whistler Blackcomb twice in the last few years (2 hours from Vancouver) and cant rate the place highly enough.:)

People who fly from the UK, how do you find the flight?

As it's around 8hours (or so the flight website told me)

Im hoping summer starts in 2 weeks when im off work for a week, then i can get down the beach every day :)

its quite mild at the moment here, we had temps of 88 f last month then a week later we had 2" of snow lol.

Just bring plenty to do and it'll go fast.

That's alright then :p I'm just panicking, as I haven't flown since I was 7 (Although nothing has been set about going yet)
