Good non metallic rigid mouse mat?

Option 1: Go to Tesco. Buy a wooden cheeseboard. Use as mouse mat.
Option 2: buy heated mouse. Use existing mouse mat.

Option 1 isn't that ridiculous! I use a massive wooden plank with an Ozone ground level S on it. That's only because I have a rubbish metal desk which is all bent so my mouse doesn't have a flat surface.. :3

are those boogies that good i use an icemat at present wouldnt mind tryin one

my mat is cold but i like it that way tbh guess its not as cold as scotland tho

I can't give you a review on how good the boogie is, because mines currently been sent back to the depot... as i was at work when it was delivered.

But what i can say is the deals went up yesterday, which included a boogie bug xl. And as of last night they were sold out... i'd say thats a fairly good testimony.

Wait until they're back in stock and grab one i say.

The boogie is an amazing mouse carpet. Especially for the price (standard or special). I will always have one in reserve and will stockpile them should they stop being made.

right then another purchase lined up for pay day

just make sure you get the right size one they are huge bought a xl one thinking it wouldnt be that big i was wrong is a behemoth of a mat takes up 75% of my deskspace suppose you could get a xxl one and cut it too fit though :-)

If you're set on a solid plastic mat (personally I don't understand why anyone would be in 2012, with the evolution of cloth mats) then look into the Razer Scarab or Steelseries 4/9HD. Both will exceed your expectations if you're coming from an IceMat.

I'm a hard fan but I haven't used cloth in maybe 10 years and I'm wondering if I should rethink my stance. Could you maybe elaborate on the cloth evolution, or if anyone has switched from hard to cloth and wants to throw in their 2 pence.

I've been using a roccat sota, hard with some flexibility but overtime has warped into a wave and the surface is lifting. So I need something new fairly pronto. My shortlist so far is...

Razer scarab
steelseries i-2
razer vespula
SteelSeries 9HD

I'm leaning towards the 9HD. But I'm more than open to opinion.

The boogie is neither rigid nor suitable for a laptop :/ The problem is glass transmits heat really well, I have an old icemat and it gets freezing too.

Would it not be possible to find the right sized 'boogie' for your current mousemat and just place it on top? might be cheaper alternative?

Should stop your temperature issue whilst still be solid?

+1 for the Steelseries I-2 - Lovely mousemat to use! just make sure you dont get anything gritty on it, feels horrible under the mouse (although nothing has marked it yet).
Settled on this after trying out a Roccat Alumic (which is a VERY nice pad, however the graphics didnt agree with my G9X)

aha! I've been wanting to try a glass mat for eons but I was wondering if the surface on the I-2 is likely to chip or peel. Is it coloured glass or something put on top?

No need to worry about chipping or peeling - its a sheet of misted (?) glass (probably 3-4mm thick) with a film at the bottom to provide the colour :-) ... looks the part too, attracted a few comments at the last LAN event i was at :-)

I might just be sold on this. Thanks.

I've got the boogie bug. It's a bit grippy, compared to the Roccat Sota. However, the Sota surface is now bumpy. :(

Never gonna buy anything from them again.

Yeah, the sota done a grand job till it went all wavey. I've not spilled anything on it, never mistreated it in any way and it's just falling to bits. I would be able to accept it if I had been hashy with it, or it had taken a beer or two on the chin.
